Shocking that they will reduce the width of other seats by 1 inch to give the 'extra width' seats 2 inches!
Now I am just about ok in the current seats but it will be tight if they take an inch away.
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !
plus its the aisle seat which will mean two 'smaller' people will be 'trapped' if the oversize doesn't wish to be getting up and down much...
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
How about 'Airlines unveil compulsory pre-trip gym sessions and dieting' followed by 'Airlines charge passengers for the combined weight of their luggage + their own weight"
Always planning a trip somewhere!
Have I missed something and it's actually April fools day?
The days of price per total passenger kilo (PTPK) are not far away me thinks ...
There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles
Imagine that! Maybe after bags are weighed at check in pax will have to stand on the scales and if you look a bit portly the tape measures will come out. So you'll either have to pay for the extra width seats or pay for your weight above let's say 80kg

80 kg what world do you live in.

When the BBC did their series 'Secret life of the Airport' they showed some film or pictures of people being weighed before getting on the plane
And I also found this
So it has happened in the past but mainly for calculating the weight of the plane rather than charging for excess weight.

Wrong ! I think you'll find that Tinuks is indeed a woman

DL is right. I am a woman and no apology is necessary.
What about if you are a thin persons with a fat person inside trying to get out?
If at some point in the future obesity is declared a disability then airlines would not be able to charge extra.

Love the fact the article is started with an advert for McDonalds!!
)
Now this maybe controversial but surely the best configuration would be to put the fat seats together right at the back. That wouldn't affect other pax, would be next to an exit for ease of waddling on/off the aircraft etc.
Can see some of the LCC justing getting excited about the 17" seats and forgetting the extra wide ones..

NH, Hobbit Land.
Might result in a slightly more 'nose-up' trim...
Thanks

I've had the disadvantage of flying in Y in a 346 with a rather robust lady beside me in A. I think I lost a third of my seat to her so I'm not entirely sure that 2 extra inches is sufficient for someone of that size.
It probably might make more sense to have maybe PE witdth seats in Y for a little bit more than extra legroom/exit row seats but to squash other pax into narrower seats doesn't seem fair.
