A couple of observations about making bookings with Singapore airlines that maybe useful:
** If I use the ticketing office in Dubai – they levy a 7% service charge to the ticket price (is this the same as the UK). Web bookings do not have any service fees.
** Business class tickets from DXB are only bookable around 8 months before departure (VS is 11 months)
** At the time of booking, availability for the exact flight you want may not exist or is very expensive (as I suppose is the same with any airline). What I have found is begin with booking cheap J tickets that may not have the best connections and changed afterwards. SQ does not charge for changes on any J class ticket; all J class are also refundable. I have not (to date) been made to pay additional amounts.
** SQ has special offers for 2 people traveling together (Business for 2). Useful to know as I was previously doing a dummy booking for 1 and doubling the amount.
