4 Days In Bangkok What Sights Are A Must See

Spending 4 days in Bangkok at the begining of March. Any recommendations of the best places to visit.

We did a couple of nights a few years ago...

The Grand Palace was amazing. Takes a few hours to stroll around.

Must have clothes that cover legs and shoulders - which goes for most religious venues over there, (and in Europe to be fair).

Our hotel arranged a Taxi to get us there and he agreed to meet us after 4 hours to take us back. Obviously he wanted to take us to his uncle's shop who had some great stuff to sell but we politely declined! Politeness goes a long way in Thailand!

The outside terrace at the Oriental (on the river) is a great place for dinner (buffet or menu are both great ).

We stayed at the Shangri la in BKK a couple of years ago and hired a boat for a morning on the river. He took us into the small back tributaries, off the main river, where the folk live in amazingly simple homes, it was fascinating. The Grand Palace was out of this world but absolutely heaving, so go early as soon as it opens.

I am not a city person AT ALL but apart from Singapore, which I also love, I really, really liked BKK more than any other city I have been to.

A day trip to the old capital - Ayuthia and Pa Ba In is worthwhile. There are loads of organised trips.

If you're around on a weekend, try Chatuchak (sp?) market. If you do go, buy whatever you see and don't try and get back to the same stall as the market is huge and you'll never find it again.

If rooftop dining is your thing, try Vertigo on top of the Banyan Tree hotel (my favourite) or Sirocco on top of Lebua State Tower (where a scene from Hangover 2 was filmed).

An interesting ?| area to go to is Patpong, where there is a market for copy goods and lots of ladyboys.

Thanks, as you might have seen on my flight itinerary I'm flying back from Phuket! We start in Bangkok for 4 nights and then fly down to Phuket but we stay on phi phi for 7 nights!
I hope it's settled down when we're there also!

Otherwise, have a great time; it's a fascinating place; if you get a chance go to the
Damnoen Saduak floating market. Great for photo opportunities, food, and for giving you an insight into a bygone way of life.

An early morning start is worth it to avoid the heat and catch Damnoen Saduak at it's liveliest, it’s an enjoyable morning out of the city and, if you avoid the tourist shops, you can get a real sense of the place.

The market is over an hour outside Bangkok, and the easiest way to get there is to join a tour; most leave around 7 am.

If you want to be really adventurous, then go for the Amphawa floating market, virtually no tourists and fantastic seafood, the Wat Bang Koong temple and ultra-weird mini zoo on the opposite side of the river. The downside it's 50 km from Bangkok, aim to arrive around 9.30 and leave after lunch.
