Emirates business class (777)

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has experience and opinions of Emirates business class and how it compares with VS UC?

I'm looking at a trip to South Africa but cannot afford 2 tickets at the current price BA and VS are quoting for Club/UC. Big savings to be had with EK but on the route I'm looking at they use 777 rather than A380. Has anyone experienced the 'lay flat' bed as opposed to the 'fully flat' bed as this seems to be the difference between 777 and 380 cabin setups?

Not all EK business is the same, nor are all EK 777 created equal.

Have you tried pricing up the Amsterdam trick? If you've got the time and the inclination, you could save hundreds or more.

Here is another of my TRs from my SA trip - this time an overnight flight with the sleeperette beds.

My overall opinion of the J cabin on the 777 was that it was somewhere between UC and PE on the VS flights. I was re-routed back via LHR and the difference between the 777 cabin and the A380 was stark.

Having said that - would I fly to South Africa again with Emirates? Yes I would if the price was right. On this occasion it was and it was even cheaper than the AMS trick mentioned by gumshoe
