Getting to T2

As Little Red will have moved when I next fly in a couple of weeks I have been trying to see where I go into T2.
I will probably park in the T1 car park, unless anyone knows if there is motorbike parking at T2?
I just can't work out how to get to T2 as a pedestrian.

You could use the pedestrian tunnels that connect with the tube. They serve both T1 & T2.

OK, so I don't drive to LHR but I have used T2 for 3 return trips since Aer Lingus moved there at the beginning of July and as well as Flight Connections, I have used the Heathrow Express, the Underground, the Central Bus Station and a taxi. There is a bank of lifts between T1 and T2 which brings you to an elevated walkway into that terminal. My experience from exiting T2 to get to all four points mentioned was that the lifts were clearly marked for the various floors. The public transport options brought you out at a place near the Underground from whence you could access T1, T3, the Bus Station and (en route to T3) the HEX. The floors for taxis brought you to a ground level where the Hoppa buses and the long term car park buses left and I know there was also a floor for the short stay car park. Everything is clearly signed and it should not be a problem.

T2 is lovely - lots of varied eating options airside (and not too bad ones landside either) and some nice shops. Little Red check-in is in the (I think) C zone next to Aer Lingus and the EI kiosks are also primed for use by LR. It is very central and, having checked in/used the bag drop you go left past the EI desks and the security area is then straight ahead. This will bring you to the mezzanine area of the departure lounge with some high-end shops, Boots, WH Smith and a John Lewis as well as (I think) a couple of coffee shops. Downstairs are the A gates with plenty of seating and strategically placed charging points for laptops, phones etc and plenty of varied eating options as well as WH Smith, Duty Free (also upstairs) and Icantrmemberwhat! Each time I went through I was always disappointed that I wasn't hungry enough to want to eat since the food places looked good.

LR will probably use the gates next to EI which are roughly 21-24 (I think. My flight seems to have landed /departed from A23 each time I went through) They have runway views but not the Bath Road runway.

In T2, whichever way you enter your photo is taken as you get to security. However, unlike T1, it is then re-taken for security purposes at the gate on boarding. While on one level it slows boarding, on another level it reduces congestion on the air bridge.

I'm a massive fan of T2 (even after my "mishap" on my first trip there :w ) and I must say it really is nice to have a comfortable and spacious area to wait for a flight compared with the ghastly tubes the ROI flights used what seemed like forever!

If you have Priority Pass and some time before your LR flight from T2, I highly recommend the United lounge.

It's in T2B (the satellite) so a bit of a hike there and back, but it's worth it. A million times better than Servisair in T1, and I'd even say better than BA Galleries Club in T5 in terms of atmosphere, food and drink.

Gumshoe, I saw your original post on the United lounge which was what prompted me into thinking about my own journey.
Last month I didn't bother with a lounge at T1 but we walked past all the queues at Costa up to the far end to Est Café. No queues and brilliant food.

Well I parked under the T1 ramp and it was a short well signed walk across to T2.
En route I saw signs for motorbike parking at T2 and found a decent sized bike park just the other side of the taxi ranks so if anyone else uses a motorbike T2 has it's own bike park which is contrary to what the Heathrow website says.
I had a good flight up to EDI on Tuesday with the plane less than half full. Coming home last night it was a lot busier, but I was in row2 and soon off the plane and with my bike five minutes before the allocated landing time. Mind you I think the pilot must have been in a hurry because he was first off the plane which I thought rather unusual.

As an aside, is something happening in Scotland with only few people going up and a full load coming back?

Home office travel advise to not enter a political ware zone and for English citizens to repatriate immediately ahead of their public stonings with Haggis and tatties!!

Ooops, I missed the part about a motorbike park. I could have told you about it as I saw it when waiting for a taxi. I was fascinated by it as it never occurred to me that someone would go to an airport on a motorbike - well apart from VS when they did bike transfers. (Do they still do them? ?| )

When using Little Red with only hand luggage a motorbike is by far the quickest way to travel. Straight up to the terminal, no charge for parking. And the ability to SLOWLY filter when M25 traffic comes to a stop.
The downside is either riding without leathers or sitting on the plane in full motorbike attire.
For safety sake I choose to wear leathers.
One very observant passenger asked me, "have you got a motorbike?" I thought what a clever chap. Haven't I seen you before? Was it TOWE or I'm a celebrity, or both? Joey now wants a crosser, as he called it.
