Michael O'Leary & Ryanair

Came across this article. I personally wouldn't fancy transferring from an UC flight to one of Mr O'Leary's planes. It will never happen.

Treat airplane travel like a bus. Its nothing more than getting from point a to point b.

I have never had an issue with RyanAir because I understand how they operate & their fees. There is always someone kicking off in the queue because they have not paid to check their bag or trying to take a bag to big on the plane with them or multiple bags.

I agree. Treat Ryanair like a bus. Use only when all other options are not available.

For me the airplane journey is part of my holiday and I want it to be a pleasant experience.

I can't see that materialising in a million years. The comment around the legacy airline taking the risk of missed connections might sound OK but they'll never accept that.

Mr B and I use Ryanair a lot to holiday in France - they fly direct to areas we want to go and other carriers don't. You get what you pay for but for a 2 hour flight, it's fine. Would I consider flying long haul with them - not on your nelly. I'd rather not go!

For me, short haul flights are a pain, so much hassle for such a short time in the air but long haul are great, defo part of the holiday and that is where the wonder that is VS UC comes into its own.

Pretty much my attitude too, I can take a scotch egg and a little vial of liquor onboard EasyJet (never flown RyanAir) and hope it passes quickly. More than a couple of hours however is another story.

Easyjet short haul and VS long haul, IMO you can't beat them.

BA Short Haul as Heathrow is so convenient. Have used both Ryanair and Easyjet, Easyjet slightly better experience but both were fit for purpose. Virgin for long haul all the way (4 for Longhaul?). Far East and Middle East carriers also fine. Have used American twice, old planes & older attendants, poor food and being shouted at by the crew!

I flew to the canaries with them. No issue from my point of view - A women in the queue to board the plane got pulled & was told she had to check her bag as it was to big (in all 3 dimensions!) - she moaned & I didnt see her get on the plane - so guessing she did not fly.
Her fault for being stupid - but the flight attendants aint consistent. lots of people had oversize baggage & wasnt pulled. Luck of the draw I guess.

We use Ryanair to get to faro and we've never had an issue with them.

They are a no-frills airline, I guess you get what you pay for. Choice is good.

Personally I like my frills (and thrills ) when I am go on holiday. My holiday starts as soon as I leave the house, and my airport experience and flights are an important part of the holiday experience. Ryanair is therefore not for me.

It has been suggested to me by others that my actual destination is of secondary importance to me than the actual flight! Not true, but I think the amount of time I spend planning our holidays gives that impression to people who simply book a package deal from a travel agent.
