MAN to be redeveloped

Somewhat relevant to VS given their MAN presence and how this may impact things during the works. Highlights include expansion of T2 and linkage with a redeveloped T3 (this will probably spell the end of T1) and U.S. pre-clearance like at DUB.

As a MAN user, this is good news. y)

As another MAN user I welcome the news, let's hope that it is delivered on time. (Otherwise I will be getting to old to benefit ).

A had a feeling this would happen for a long time. Saw some drawings back in 2010 when Emirates started flying the A380. They originally wanted to rebuild one of the terminal one piers so that it could handle two A380's at a time. I actually flew VS75 from MAN on the 28th of May so trip report in the works.

Grate news for Virgin passengers this might have big ramifications for the next aircraft order as MAN might get the Hub status it finally deserves. What I want to see from Virgin is for them to put there hand in their pocket and build a clubhouse. Mirror the Heathrow network where applicable out of
MAN so SFO LAX JFK MIA and add new markets PEK TPA. The point is Virgin cannot grow at Heathrow for the time being so use the capacity that is out there. Delta is doing the exact same thing as we speak with SEA so why not MAN.

Also U.S. Customs pre clearance at MAN think the airport is onto a winner. Virgin would be silly not to take advantage of that.

US pre-clearance at MAN and / or LHR is still a long way off.

It's not even been agreed by the US Government let alone Congress.

And if it is like the pre clearance at Abu Dhabi airport they legislated that no US tax paper funds be used to build the facility or to operate it so that means the airlines paying for it. Which means the passengers.
