Hi everyone

Needing some help on a special trip for next April.

Have finally had the go-ahead from the man who holds all the purse strings (he thinks) for our Silver Wedding trip. We have decided to do San Francisco, Las Vegas and Hawaii over 16 nights. As these are areas we have never done before I'm not sure what hotels or what order to do them in. Definitely want 4/5 Star throughout and flying UC so it's very important to get it right.

I am going to ring VH today and get some advice but thought it best to get some opinions beforehand. Checked BritVegas site and Bellagio and Venetian look favourable for LAS but help on all three areas would be a great help as this is something we may only do only once.

Thanx

Jilly

Hi jilly,

My post on the Mandalay Bay and the hotel ( all suite hotel part of M Bay) reviewed in the post below. I like the M bay and the hotel especailly the pool area.

In San Francsico I am slightly biased towards the SF Hilton ( as I'm HH Diamond and get room upgrades and lounge access).

In Hawaii there is the hilton Hawaiian village in Honolulu or the Wikilola Village which are supposed to be very nice.

Enjoy your trip.

Have done nothing but research today.

TBS
Got some help from VH. Bellagio and Venetian not available. Mandalay Bay resort is available with them but forgot to ask them to check THEhotel - I will do this tomorrow - it looked from your report you preferred the latter is that the case?

Plumped for a costing with Westin St Francis in SFO as per RM's opinion.

As for Hawaii still deciding whether to do one or two islands - its a long way to go and not see as much as possible. Sheraton Mona Surfrider is looking good for Oahu.

thanks for your help

Hi jilly,

At The Hotel all the rooms are suites separate bedroom and living room, the lobby area is quieter as there are no slot machines until you enter M Bay itself. The rooms look higher quality ( bathrobes and slippers) and a flat screen tv and one in the bathroom too!! ( separate wc) and lots of storage space. There is also only!![:p] 1100 rooms compared to about 3000+ at M Bay. Fitness center is good. Short walk to Luxor via the Mandalay Place ( Chocolate Swan is at the escalator and looked tempting)

Of course, you can use all the facilities at M Bay and charge it to your room.

Only slight drawback is a longer walk to shar reef, the pool area nad the M Bay buffett.
For a few tens of dollars more I would stay at The Hotel.

Hi Jilly

This year i stayd at the Ritz CarltonSan Francisco on Nob Hill and througherly enjoyd it we stayd on the club level that provides guests with the highest personal service, and features five food and beverage presentations daily.
The room rate is around $405pn.

As for Vegas i have stayd at both the Venetian and Bellagio and found them to be on a level par. for next year we are looking at a penthouse suite in the Bellagio but there will be 4 of us staying there so that bring's cost's down, we are also looking at the four sasons at the Mandalay bay.

I can't comment on hawaii as i haven't been there sorry.

HTH

Cheers

Congratulations on the anniversary!! :)

I would agree with TBS regarding TheHotel. We stayed there in September and we were very impressed, we have also stayed at Mandalay Bay several times before that. We love both the hotels and the pool area. If you search this forum for "TheHotel" you will find that someone posted how to get from TheHotel to the pool by the quickest route.

In SFO we loved the Argonaut hotel, it's so classy and stylish and handy for the piers and the cable car.

Never been to Hawaii

Have a great trip

Cheers
