A very noble idea.

I am running again a bit but not too sure I'll get up to Marathon standard.

Think the London Marathon is the most likely prospect I ever do pluck up the courage :)

Unfrotunately not, some of our guys are doing the London marathon again this year. I'm concentrating on this event at the moment:

http://www.challengerworld.com/et.cfm?eid=1056

I don't know what is killing me more, the exercise or the getting up at 5:30am to go to the gym four times a week!

Thanks,
Richard

Congrats Richard !!!

Hate to say it but ...
I was goning to run the London Marathin but people that are not UK based or EU have to use a tour organizer. I would have to stay at a very expenisive hotel, fly AA, and none going to any good besides someones profit.

I still want to run London but I think the mayor likes his job. (bad joke over) I would like to run if the premium would go to good (or no premium). Please let me know if you can help. I really want to run the London Marathon !!! [8D]

I could never run a Marathon. The year before last I volunteered for one of the charities here to join their massage team. It was one of the most rewarding enjoyable things I have done.

There was a few hundred runners in the team, and about 20 therapists, two therapists per massage table one on each leg. We only had enough time to work their legs for them.

I had so much more respect and admiration for anyone who could attempt, never mind finish a marathon.

There was one runner I remember in particular, late 40's and it had always been her dream to run the Marathon - a "fun runner". She had trained hard for it, raised a shed-load of money for the children's charity we were supporting. When she hobbled in and fell onto the massage table i think she said she could quite happily gone to sleep and not moved for three weeks she felt that bad. She was absolutely exhausted. But she didn't stop smiling and grinning and we couldn't shut her up - after thinking about doing it for 20 years she had achieved her dream and she didn't care how much her body hurt at that moment. We all had such admiration for her spirit.

I am running the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday June 12th http://www.edinburgh-marathon.co.uk/uk/...[y]

I am also waiting to see if my application for the NYC Marathon has been accepted this year for Sunday November 6th http://www.nyrrc.org/nyrrc/marathon/index.html... :)

I would happily give up work and run marathons around the world; it is a fantastic buzz when you cross the finish line... :D

The Marine Marathon is open to register.
It is in Washington DC.

i will be running it.

Marine Corps Marathon Course for 2005:
The USATF certified course starts in Arlington, VA, and winds its way through the Roslyn district along Lee Highway before turning on Spout Run and the George Washington Parkway. Runners will experience a climb on Lee Highway in the first few miles of the new course, but are rewarded with a descent along Spout Run and the parkway. After crossing the Key Bridge into Georgetown, you will be on familiar territory through the District of Columbia. You will pass the Kennedy Center before entering the Mall area and numerous monuments and memorials, such as, the Lincoln, FDR, Korean War and Vietnam Veteran's memorials, Washington Monument, and the U.S. Capitol. The marathon once again returns to Haines Point and "the Awakening" in East Potomac Park before passing the Jefferson Memorial. After crossing the 14th Street Bridge back to Virginia, you will venture to Crystal City, return past the Pentagon and finish at the Marine Corps War Memorial. It is truly a beautiful course and aptly nicknamed "The Marathon of the Monuments."

I have just started on the road to get back to my former fitness of a few years ago :)

My goal is the NYC marathon ... im in the lottery for an entry but also have a chance of guaranteed entry through work. Will be using some miles for a weekend away with my wife.

As a fall back I have just got my entry for the Chicago Marathon in October.

Im just trying to decide on a charity to run for as there are so many worthwhile out there....... how about V-Flyer promoting/supporting a particular charity .... running shirts etc promoting V-Flyer and the charity ??? Just a thought :)

Too late for this year, given that the event is next week, but I'm sure a London based v-flyer would find you a room in one of the palatial mansions and country estates that all the UK-based members own. ;)

Seriously, I'll be living back in London this time next year (I'm currently out in the shires, but work will take me back to London in a few months) and you'd be welcome to a room while preparing for such a worthwhile event. I'd draw the line at running the thing myself, but more than happy to help on the logistics for someone else - just let me know.

I am still waiting for my NYC entry (I think it is mid May that they draw the international ballot). :)

However, legs are a wee bit sore today, just completed an 18-mile run (2:29:04) this morning, as only 6 weeks to go to the Edinburgh marathon... :)
