New EVA Air "Elite" Class (PE)

Taiwan's Eva Air launched a "PE-style" product, Evergreen Deluxe at about the time of VS' Mid Class back in '92. They've just revamped it as "Elite Class" on their new B777ERs which will fly from LHR to Taipei from September. Seehere or photos here
Looks very good. Described as "Business Class seats" Has enhanced service with porcelain tableware. No mention of the dreaded "E" word in it's title!:)
Regular Cattle Class has 33" seat pitch.
Perhaps VS should take a look at EVA.

Hmm... Looking at this picture of "Elite Class" in particular, the seat pitch doesn't actually look that hot...

I really don't see what the difference is between this product and VS' existing PE:

Personal IFE,
38" pitch,
Overnight "kit",
Blanket,
Tea served in china cups? OK, they can have that one.
Oh - they have a coat hook

Surely having your coat taken off you and hung in the wardrobe is more desirable? [:p]

I thought the "E" word was actually a requirement for the product, as many companys ban business class travel, so it's needed to distinguish the class as an economy fare.

(was this not the reason VS changed the name from the original "Mid Class"?)

Its a shame this doesnt work with the UK Govts Air Departure Tax [xx(]

Looks like a good upgrade,I flew with them a couple of years back and went deluxe,it was literally only a couple of $$$ more than coach so for a 16 hr trip I figured it was a no brainer..Nice seats,good service,very good food,no drama's..I enjoyed flying with them..EVA'S website is a total mess though,most people over here don't even know about EVA and on going to their website im sure most people just go to UA's..
