im reading a book by Reter Greenberg called the travel detective
amazon link

on page 149 of the book he states:

"A lawsuit is in the works and expected to be filled in the spring of 2005 claiming that major airlines are guilty of detrimental reliance violations-that they induce people to be come members with the strong inference that the minute they achieve that 25k mile threshold, they will get a free domestic coach ticket to anywhere they want. But when it that time comes, the suit alleges, there is an excellent chance that there will be no ticket, becuae airlines aren't running a loyalty program but, instead,an illegal lottery."

I've done a quick search of the net and cant find any record of this suit being filled, though it would have some interesting ramafications on the airline biz..heck maybe I could get an upgrade[^][y][:w]

btw this is an interesting book, part of it tells the story of the pudding man link who is having great trouble using all his miles due to blackout dates etc.

good reads anyway[y]

Good lord. He could even have gone to Necker Island. But only once!
