Motorways a mess, my Taxi was late, so we left Reading around 8:25am.
M4 was solid, so we went via backroads to Windsor.
Wanted to use the UC checkin for the first time, but the queue there was horrible, many people (20+) and slow moving.
As I was traveling PE, i joined the PE queue instead, that had people joining it who should n't be in there and having an arguement with the Security Passport checker.....
Also people for VS19 were told to join it, but again they failed to tell the security checker.
Got a bulkhead seat (18D) and went off to get my Travelex and try and get through the fast track line. No joy, BAA say Virgin are not paying them for Gold members to go through and some negotiations are occurring.
Got to the club house, was very impressed as it was my first visit, 2 glasses of champers, 2 bacon rolls, although only ordered 1, and 10 mins later another arrived.
Boarding was painless, although I had to wait ages to get on the plane. We pushed back 15 mins late, and took off a further 25 mins after that.
With strong headwinds, we were going to be 30 mins late, which was going to give me a problem with my conecting flight. As I only had 2 hours and last time I did this in Nov, it took me 2 hours to do Immigration/Customs/Security and run to the gate.
The crew were sympathetic and put me in an UC seat for landing, so I could be the first off. I've not sat in one before and found it a bit tight on space, I am sure my PE seat was less enclosed.
Got off first, was virtualy the last through immigration, grabbed the bag, re-checked it, went to security, jumped that line, ran to the gate, got there with 15 mins to spare.
As usual UA missed getting my bag on the plane, and were suposed to have delivered it between 1am and 5am this morning. It's now 6:30am, I've called them and they have no idea where it is. They cannot raise the delivery company.
All in all, not a bad day, T3 was busy, the club house was good, the Flight Crew service was not as good as the VS19/20 that I am used to.
Incidentally, I was sitting next to someone on Virgin Staff travel who tried to blag an upgrade to UCS with her daughter, and they declined, despite at least 5 empty UCS seats that I saw when I was in one for landing.
I did n't try the UCS in it's bed form, but I was n't overly impressed with the space.
