Flight landed at LHR 2 hours 10 min late. I had to board a connection on BA from Terminal 3.

Even though on repeatedly asking the crew for prior on ground assistance for informing BA about VS301 delay and assisting in transfer, I received no help. I was politey told to check with the ground crew on arrival. The arrival crew was just as unhelpful and rude.

Does anyone know the procedure involved when such a situation occurs?

Well, strictly speaking, unless it was part of the same ticket (and VS to BA longhaul seems unlikely, though not impossible, I suppose), then it's unlikely you'll be able to do much about the onward journey that was missed. If the delay was not due to weather (or other things outside of the airline's control), then you may be able to claim delay compensation, although I'd need to check what the rules are for flights originating outside the EU are. That wouldn't compensate you for missing the connection, however, assuming this isn't the same ticket.

Did you realise before boarding the flight was delayed by over 2 hours, or was this delay incurred in flight (due to air traffic control, or some other circumstance?)

I was politey told to check with the ground crew on arrival. The arrival crew was just as unhelpful and rude.

Were the flight crew polite or rude? This doesn't make it clear?

It's probably worth bearing in mind that the flight crew are unlikely to be able to do much in-flight other that suggest going to the BA connections desk on arrival. Also bear in mind all the passengers on the flight would be in the same situation. Other than offer information on any available or appropriate compensation, the VS ground staff on arrival also wouldn't be able to do much for you. Again assuming this was separate ticketing, that's the sort of thing you need a good travel insurance policy for.

Not really a 'trip report' is it?
