I will mention that the build up to my trip had been slightly, well more than slightly marred by apprehention reading about pay deals, possible strikes, dissatisfied crew, the revelation that crew don't like the route I was booked to go on. That coupled with last years inoperable suite fiasco and the six month battle to get my cash back that followed. So the rose tinted view I used to have on that moving walkway to the terminal from the Radd wasn't in evidence.
This was me, my partner and my little nephew of 8 years, a dream holiday for him as a treat.
Check-in was nice n easy, did the olci the day prior but wanted the little one to experience the red carpet so dropped off bags there at the upper desk. No probs and avised to use the priority security line.
Once quite quickly airside after a nice frisk I was expecting the Escape lounge dragon to greet me, fortunately she wasn't there and a warm welcome was given.
Flight was called for boarding an attempt to have priority boarding was made, but several EC families pushed through anyway.
We had a lovely warm welcome buubly was offered in copius amounts. The plane was VROS and contrary to a current scare story running on various websites there was NO problem with NOVA and no comments made to suggest there was a problem in other classes.
I was nervous that an 8 year old would not be well received and was suprised to find there were three other kids in UC all well behaved.
The Suites all worked fine and were very clean.
The crew were the epitomy of exellence, gave no impression to me that the job or route was a chore and I didn't get the feeling or hear anything to suggest that the current pay dispute was affecting service.
The crew seemed to fall for my little nephew and pandered to his every whim constantly checking he was ok and chatting to him frequently, I was very very impressed.
The only downer I had was that the food choice of two starters and three mains was a little limited for Upper and no snacks available, however the food on offer did taste good.
So my summary would be.
CHECK IN 10/10
SERVICE 10/10
IFE 8/10 ( never seen v-port yet )
FOOD 6/10 ( not much choice )
overall outward flight 9.5/10
