Check-in was fast and the woman at the counter was very nice. We had three bags between us and we had a little banter about whose name to put on the third bag. There was a little bit of a line to put our bags on the conveyor belt, as the people working there were (understandably) trying to get the bags for VS 46 on ahead of the bags for VS 10.

We headed to the CH and had some dinner. DH had a salad with seared tuna, and a hamburger. I had a turkey panini. The food there is not as good as at the LHR CH. We checked e-mail and read some magazines and then our flight was being called. MrStars was taking his time and we were probably the second to last people out of the CH. Security was fairly quick (though the line for FastTrack seemed longer than the non-FastTrack line) and we headed to gate 32. There was no line whatsoever when we arrived, but I did notice priority boarding was in place with a sign and a separately cordoned area.

Once onboard we grabbed sleepsuits & changed and got ourselves comfortable in our UCS. We were asked about beverages, and the IFBT came by, but we did get skipped over with regards to asking about dinner/turn down/breakfast. Also, of course, our AU status was not noted. I was kind of annoyed about being skipped over, but finally, while we were taxiing, someone came by.

I didnt pay attention to the time, so I have no idea what time we left the gate. I do remember that when the cabin lights were dimmed the announcement was To improve the appearance of our cabin crew, the cabin lights will be dimmed for take-off, which was received with many giggles around the cabin. We taxied forever. Seriously. I dont know if we were in line for take-off, or just taking in the sights around the airport, b/c we were moving the entire time. It was noticeably long, and I heard the person in the suite next to me comment Are we driving to London?

Finally we were in the air. Once the seatbelt sign was off I made my bed and my mint tea was brought about promptly. Then it was snooze time, so I cant comment on much else for the flight. I woke up about 40 minutes before it was time to land. We had to make one circle in a holding pattern and we were on the ground on schedule. MrStars and I zipped through Iris and then headed to the baggage claim. My bags were the second and third out and MrStars bag was about the 7th or 8th (I jokingly told him the woman at JFK gave me extra priority b/c he said the third bag was all my stuff, even though it wasnt!).

Overheard in the elevator up the carpark We will never fly that airline again. A quick glance at the tags on their baggage and Im pretty sure they were on a VS flight, though not certain whether it was VS 10. I have no idea what the complaint was about b/c that was all that was said. Then the elevator door opened and that was that.

See, now I'm all intrigued by your elevator companions and the horrible experience they seem to have had.

Fun TR - thank you muchly.

Thanks for the TR [:D]

I have yet to fly VS since reaching Au. I Guess I shouldn't expect an recognition of my Au status when I do.

Never, no way - it's another urban myth! Just take the extra miles!

Thanks for the TR Stars! I remember the last time I was on VS4 that the taxi was a goon 'un.

Jon, I am intrigued, too, but there was nothing else forthcoming so I guess it will have to be left to our imaginations.

Sorry MrsG, as slinky said, I think it is just a myth!

MrStars and I did just get birthday cards with 2,000 miles each in them from VS, so I'll take that.
