The outbound trip was on the 24th January and was OK, with service as it should be.
This return trip was after a week of working, when we finally went live with an Oracle deployment, and a week of skiing, which was disturbed by said Oracle deployment needing some hands on help mid Ski.
We headed back from Tahoe to SFO via the wonderful North Face Outlet in Berkeley, it's close to REI if you are interested.
We checked in at the UC desk, and my ski buddies enquired about upgrading to PE or UC, but were told they could n't. Not because there was n't space, but they had N Class tickets. I remember telling them to avoid this ticket class for this very reason.
I was originally ticketed in PE, but as it was the end of almost 18 months of regular travel I had upgraded to UC the previous day.
The three of us headed up to the lounge to see if it was quiet enough to enquire if I could pay for an extra guest. They actually allowed us all in, where I met some other work colleagues, who also appeared to have invited an extra guest or three.
The flight was called at the usual time, Security was clear, we walked straight onto the flight and push back was on time. I was at the bar with a few colleagues when the IFBT introduced herself, and I presented a priority card , whereby my colleague produced a stack of about 12.
I was the second client, and opted for the shoulder and head massage.
After a pleasant massage and chat to the IFBT I ate at the bar, which is not something I normaly do. It was interesting to see how busy the crew are in that area, preparing drinks, snacks and food. It's also a good opportunity to chat to whoever is keeping the bar !
After an hour or so of chatting, I was feeling tired and went back to my seat to get some shut eye.
I've said this before, I really do not find the beds comfortable at all, as they are way too hard for me, so did n't get a restful sleep. Since this trip, I now find it much easier and more restful to sleep in PE with a pair of Bose QC2s.
Breakfast was the usual Fruit and bacon roll, with OJ and we touched down pretty much on time, followed by the usual long walk and a quick run through the IRIS machine.
Bags were off quickly, Skis were not. From touchdown to exit, it was 50 minutes.
Overall a good flight, highlights were showing my BA flying friend the joys of the SFO Clubhouse, and his younger godson his first taste of any lounge. A very good massage from the IFBT, and a completely uneventful flight.
