We headed out to LHR and right up to the UC check-in desk, where there was no line. At the desk I asked if there were any bulkhead seats available and we were promptly moved into 18H & K. I have never sat in the PE bulkhead seats before. I know people have mixed feelings about the seat. MrStars is 61 and said he prefers the non-bulkhead as you can stretch your feet farther under the seat. Im much shorter at 54 so I didnt have any issues with the legroom, and liked the cushion footrest. I didnt love the screen for IFE, but I didnt use it much anyway. The key thing about the bulkhead seats for this trip was that MrStars prefers the aisle seat, and even with him sitting on the aisle I was able to get up without him needing to get up to let me by. This is important when you are 20 weeks pregnant, drinking immense amounts of water, and taking frequent strolls around the plane. Also, we might as well get used to those seats as the bulkhead is the bassinet position

Seats sorted we headed to the CH where I went for my haircut while MrStars got a back & neck massage. The CH was fairly crowded when we first arrived, but cleared out as some flights were called. We had some lunch, which was decent, though I cant remember what it was we had. I think MrStars had some sort of fish and I had pasta.

We were called for boarding and made our way onto the plane. I cant recall if there was a priority boarding line in place, but I seem to think there was one. The flight time was announced as 7h30mins, which sounded long to me. It also felt long, which was not helped by turbulence and the IFE movie selection.

There was bad weather forecast for the east coast as the remnants of some hurricanes were sweeping through and when I had checked the Port Authority of NY & NJ website from the CH there were major (as in a few hours) delays reported at both EWR and LGA, but not JFK. We thought for sure there would be a delay, but we boarded on time and if I remember correctly, wheels were up not too long after the scheduled time.

We had drinks service followed by lunch. I think I had some sort of chicken dish, but didnt eat much of it as we had eaten in the CH. This is the first time I can remember that we didnt have V:Port on a flight between LHR & JFK. It was a bit disappointing as I like to watch movies on the daytime flight, but I never seem to time it right and when I do feel like watching a movie it's usually 40 minutes into the loop. Luckily we had both brought books with us and spent most of the flight reading, with a little Tetris challenge in between! The flight was full in UC, and fairly full in PE, but Y was very empty. Many many rows with 1 person stretched across the entire middle section.

I am not the worlds best flyer, as I do get nervous. I used to be much worse, but the more I fly, the more I get used to it. However, during a relatively calm stretch of the flight, about 2 2.5 hours outside of London, with clear blue skies outside the window, the seatbelt signed clicked on. No big deal. About 3 minutes after the seatbelt sign turned on the Captain came on and said something along the lines of All cabin crew please returns to your seats and buckle up immediately. I just looked at MrStars with wide eyes. Sure enough, we started bouncing around like nobodies business. It really freaked me out, but fortunately it only lasted for about 5 minutes. Of course it made me anxious for the remainder of the flight, though it passed pretty uneventfully.

The fruit bowl came along, as did a snack of a biscuit or brownie. No ice cream service have they stopped doing this in PE going to the east coast of the US? I definitely remember having been served this in PE in the past.

I thought for sure that we were going to have a bunch of turbulence during landing, given the weather, and was mentally preparing myself. However, though we landed about 20 minutes late we had a smooth landing. JFK was surprisingly empty, with no lines at immigration. The bags took ages to come out but finally we were on our way.

Thanks! That is good to hear - maybe someone forgot to load it, rather than it being cut from the service.
