I'm doing the same trip. NYC to Nairobi. The plane is the same terminal and usually they get in a little early. If you are concerned talk to a hostess on the plane and they can let you off early. I'm sure they wouldn't let you book it if there was an issue since it's the same airline, but now you have me thinking.
