A last minute trip to CES 2012 and not quite enough airmiles left for UC meant a PE flight was all i could afford, finally found a miles+money ticket that was reasonably priced. So here i am.

Well after panicking that my hand luggage would get pulled up for being over the allowed weight all went well through check-in fine.

After my last few trips in UC and no clubhouse access, decided i'd book the servisair lounge, its no clubhouse, but all the same was a great quiet space away from the hustle and bustle of airport - definitely recommended. Bacon butty delivered within 15 minutes of arriving, plenty of free drinks and snacks.

Managed to grab seat 28a which according to seatguru is pretty good. I have to they were spot on, great seat, plenty of legroom and a great view out of the windows.

Cabin crew were a good bunch, though looked especially worried when they discovered a mobile phone that no-one would own up to owning, 5 minutes later and the perp had owned up and we were on our way. Plenty of food and drinks served at reasonable times.

I didnt bother with the main meal, as the menu looked pretty grotty to be honest with you, i dont consider myself fussy but something about those clever choice menus just doesnt cut it with me. Enjoyed the pizza wrap thing, but i dont know if that was just a case of being hungry or if it was good!

The food choice on the way back looks to be better though.

Entertainment : The selection of films looked good, although having seen most of them, i dropped back to the old faithful Kindle and Ipad for the majority of the flight, with the occasional doze in between.

After our 2 hour + immigration experience in October, i was expecting a long wait in SFO, what can i say? within 15 minutes of being off the plane, i was outside waiting for friends to pick me up.

The weather was 67 degrees and sunny, what better way to start a trip.

Will post a TR for the return journey when i am back.

Its a truly lovely place.

Our friends we stay with have moved to Petaluma recently which is in wine country, and very beautiful. There are so many nice wineries to be visited, but i think the highlight for me was V sattui, also the best value wine tasting, i think it was about $10 for six wines, where-as most of the others were charging about $25.
