After a good trip down to Heathrow, we checked into the Park Inn, we had a lovely meal there but no so good night due to us being in a 6ft bed with 5ft bedding, so constant struggle with the covers ?| We had pre booked a taxi for 7 which came on time and deposited us at Termianl 3.

The check in area was quiet and we walked up to an empty desk, the staff were very polite and wished us a good trip, so off we went to find the clubhouse, after going through security which was also quiet I got picked for the full handbag and luggage search, this took quite a while as they had to empty all the pockets and scan everything :|

Clubhouse found and we were really wowed by everything there it was very quiet and we were shown around and breakfast ordered, the staff were very attentive and the service was superb, it was worth UC just for the clubhouse. :D

Our flight was called and we made our way to gate 25 i think, where Sleeping Beauty was waiting, we went to the front entrance where we had reserved seats 4&5k. On first impression it was not as big as i had imagined the suites would be, i fitted in comfortably but as hubby is an ex rugby man with very large shoulders he only just fitted in the seat, the suite was clean and tidy and we both really liked the ottoman so much more comfortable for putting your feet up.

There was always plenty of crew around and they were very attentive coming around about every hour to ask if we wanted anything, nothing was too much trouble for them so much more than premium were i don't think we were spoken to once or acknowledged. We had one celebrity on board only those of a certain age will probably remember him a Mr Bobby Womack and entourage, they sat in the middle row next to us.

I had the salmon and hubby had the soup both delicious, and then we both had the beef, lovely as well and caramel pud to finish, couldn't manage anything else, hubby had the cheese and port which he said was superb.Settled down to watch some films my v-port played up a bit and had to be re booted twice but eventually settled down. Drinks were plentiful and frequent, afternoon tea was great with sandwiches and the scones were delicious.

The flight passed quite quickly and we were very impressed with the service and professionalism of the crew.It was deffinately a big difference from Premium y)

We landed on time and into the immigration which was like a scene from a comedy film, the US desks for their citizens were all fully manned but for us lesser mortals there were only two agents, then one went for a break and the other disappeared we all looked at each other, for several minutes when one came back luckily we were at the front,so don't know how long the back of the queue had to wait. v(

Out into the LA sunshine, to wait for the shuttle to the Crowne Plaza, which never came so in the end had to get a taxi,
had heard reports of building work going on there but we got a lovely upgraded room and slept almost 12 hours before picking up our car for onwards to Las Vegas. y)

Thanks for the TR. y)

Clearly a suspicious traveller mallin :?

Got to love the LAX immigration hall.... they go on their pep talks and staff meetings at really odd times - when a full aircraft or two just lands for example :P Good job you were at the front ;)

Cheers for posting 8D

Great TR, thanks for posting y) The difference between Premium and Upper is big but then thats why you pay the extra wonga. Glad you enjoyed the experience enhanced by a good CC ^)

Staying at the Crowne Plaza in December for an overnighter prior to picking up an RV the following day - sounds like it was OK - any other details? 8D

Petmadness, the only thing I would say if you are waiting for the shuttle, we waited for over half an hour every other hotels bus came, think they share it with the Renaissance. We ended up getting a taxi but it was only 10 dollars, we did say when we arrived and only one came while we were waiting to check in. I signed up for their loyalty scheme and got 2 free drinks from the coffee house there 2 enormous ones, very grateful. We got a lovely room two queen beds, large flat screen tv and nice bathroom all for £59 plus taxes, bargain.

We also got a taxi next day to the car rental don't know which one you are using, we went with Alamo who have joined with National pre registered so walked through to the lot of cars and picked from the line nobody there to help all had the keys in, we got a large Hyundai SUV very comfortable and went quite well, the fuel has gone up and they are paying nearly $5 dollars a gallon it was way cheaper in Vegas anything else just ask. Nice TR.
LAX can be an nightmare, stood there for way over an hour before and that was 2nd of the aircraft!!
UC is so much different from UC most of the time as someone else has said, the pax per CC is much less.
If you get an empty PE cabin and good staff it's a whole different trip.
On a number of trips in PE I was even offered a massage "up front"
Oh how times have changed!!!

Thanks for the advice Mallin - we are on the 23 so will get a cab to the hotel after hearing your shuttle experience! We are hiring an RV the next day and we are getting picked up by the RV company the next morning - so now all sorted! Only 68 days to go ^) ^)
