So after two nights in California it was time to head across to IAD....Once again Virgin America would be my carrier of choice. It did mean an early start on what would be a long day but it was well worth it.

I arrived at Terminal 3 for my 7am VX108 flight to IAD just after 0530. It did mean I would not have time to visit "The Loft" but maybe next time.

The flight was called at 0630 after a painless journey through security. The flight was full and I settled into the huge white leather seats in First class, making 2A my home for the next four hours or so.

The Flight service team leader came and introduced herself and used names at times through the flight which was nice. Pre-take off drinks of Bucks Fizz, Sparkling Wine, water or OJ were offered and refilled as we waited for a couple of late arrivals.

Pushed off stand at and the innovative safety demo was completed which is up close and personal in first class... ):

Little bottles of water were handed out before take off too and we were then airborne. A very loud screeching noise occured as soon as we were airborne, the noise got louder and we all heard in first class as the team leader spoke to the flight deck about the noise and that everyone was "safe" - we all looked at each other. No announcements about what it was.....but finally after a long 5 minutes it was established that the noise was coming over the intercom somehow from the coffee machine.....thankfully it was sorted and the team leader came around to explain and apologise.

Normal VX service commenced with further drinks and RED was up and running.

Breakfast tables were laid at 0730 and the choices included: Fruit Plate with Granola and Milk or Winter Fruit crumble with Mozzarella Omelet both were served with coffee, choice of juice and warm banana bread.

I find on VX the descriptions never do the food justice as it comes presented lovely and is a huge portion and by jingo it was all delicious.

Drinks were kept topped up throughout and later on snacks were offered including Cookies, Chex Mix, Mixed nuts and pringles.

The crew were smiling, friendly and superb throughout. An hour from IAD a Roast Beef sandwich was offered with more drinks and we were asked if we would like to take any additional snacks away with us.... oo)

I really like Virgin America, this was a 4hrs10mins flight and the crew were great, RED is fantastic with a cool skymap and the food was delicious. I think the couple sat in front of me simply rolled off the plane with the amount of sparking wine they had drunk.....and why not!! :P
