The very first Edinburgh - London flight ... And it was delayed! But only by 15 mins and to be honest, the flight time was so short that it didn't really matter. I think this was simple teething problems rather than a sign of things to come.

I must say I was impressed overall with the flight and the operation from Edinburgh. The welcoming committee as you enter the departure wing at Edinburgh was excellent - virgin have an excellent check in zone, and the self service machines were very easy to use, albeit slow.

The fast track through security was appreciated and I was in the Serviceair lounge within 8 mins of arriving at the airport. Departing from gate 6, The va team seemed to occupy their own area of th terminal, hopefully this will remain and in time we will see a dedicated Virgin presence in the departure lounge.... I think it's time to build a mini (or rather a 'lite') version of the clubhouse .... Well, I guess we need to see if this route is profitable first.

The flight was called on time, under the watchful eye of The Management. Everyone was smiling, so all went well - I did think the call for women and children to pre board was slightly unnecessary as there was only about 15-20 of us boarding. But I guess he has to follow the agreed procedures.

The cabin on the 320 was really nice. Mood lighting and the purple leather seats made it feel a little bit like stepping into PE. The cabin crew were friendly and I was welcomed aboard by name, which is always nice. This captain made many announcements and at the end stood by the cabin door and thanked everyone as they deplaned - again, a nice touch. The bacon roll and coffee were nice treats as well.

When alighting, there was a separate tunnel and bus for pax transferring to T3 - making VS 3 a catchable flight.

All in all, we'll done VA.., not a bad start to hopefully a lasting route.
