Having flown down from EDI on the 1st flight of Little Reds adventures from Scotland and been slightly underwhelmed by the lack of pizazz it was time to return on the VS3003 back to a slightly warmer Scotland.
After disembarking from the inbound plane, it was a simple case of walking to Costa for some caffeine and then back to the gate to sit for a few minutes.
There was a few suits present, but again nothing to shout "this is the launch of Little Red to Scotland".
The flight down was probably about 20% full at best, but the return must have put a large smile on VS's face. It was probably closer to 75% full and looked to be connecting passengers or proper commuters rather than people (like myself) out for a little fun

Same plane, same crew and this time a departure from the gate on time which was then followed by a 20 minute taxis.
Seemed a very quick flight which meant a crew scurrying around trying to get the drinks / crisps service down before we touched down. The trash was cleared away with about 10 mins to land.
Into gate 6 and quick stop at Dixons and home in around 45 mins.
1st impressions.
It was obviously the first ( of hopefully many many future trips ) from Scotland and back so there were one or two little things if I am overly critical, after all its just a shuttle service.
The leg room seems slightly less than from BA, the seats where right against my legs, although not uncomfortable, whereas there seems to be a little space on BA
Surprised a flight at 8.40 in the morning doesn't have breakfast and gives you crisps.
Needs a little music on boarding and exiting, although this did occur very very quietly on the return journey.
The little pop down screens you get with the maps on BAs airbus are missing
Service needs to be speeded up as with a full plane, this will never be completed.
I agree with Sam about his comments re a lounge of sorts. BMI's lounge which is within spitting distance of gate 6 is sitting empty and could be used to good effect for the 6 departures from EDI a day for connecting and Gold passengers. This would be a huge differential over BA

And that brings me to the worrying issue. I don't think, apart from flying club miles, that there is anything to tempt passengers away from BA.
No names were used at the door ( which even on shuttles, BA seem to be able to do ) and there is no Virgin fizz apart from the purple seats and lighting so its probably going to be price that wins the day if onward connections don't matter.
Maybe by the return loads, all of the above is irrelevant which would be great for VS, but as I said earlier, there is the potential for so much more.
Thanks for reading
David
Oh, and as for tier point runs, you would be bored to tears after the 1st run
