Arrived at an empty check in desk to 5 smiling VS ground crew and told them our situation. We had discussed and decided that even if VS couldn't help with transferring our tickets we would see if we could pay to get on the earlier flight anyway, but the staff were brilliant and it was no trouble for them to transfer us. Much as I would love to see packed Little Red flights every time, I'm glad that this time the flight was quiet and it was easy to slot us onto it.
Security was busy but we made it through in about 10 minutes, grabbed a quick drink at the bar in the main departure gate and then wandered up to gate 8.
Flight was further delayed but the supervisor who had agreed to let us move flights was at the gate and advised us that it had arrived and since there were only 18 people on and only 17 people returning it should be a quick turnaround and it was.
Noticed when we got on that the seats were slightly different, no movable headrests and a slightly tighter fit but still comfortable and I personally think the fittings and lighting really do make them feel classier than a usual shuttle service. We have often flown MAN-LHR returns with BA and BMI and in my opinion VS have a much better service. I hope for their sake it picks up because they have certainly put the effort into producing a different experience, it's whether the cost compares since that's probably what drives the majority of travelers these days.
Drinks and snacks offered, vodka and coke for hubby and vodka and tonic for me, we both tried the crisps in dinky little bags and we were soon descending, flight time was 35 minutes and only a very short delay waiting at the gate and we were off and legging it for the train station.
We have another weekend trip booked for next month and then at the beginning of June will get to see how the transfer service works at LHR.
10/10 for me on both trips yesterday.
