MCO - LGW Saturday 27th April VS 28

After a brilliant 1 week stay to celebrate our friends 50th it was time to think about going home. just a note to say that we stayed at http://www.magicalstay.com which is MrsBear99's villa along the US 27, conveniently located and fantastically furnished/brilliantly laid out!

OLCI exactly T-24 but only seq 11-16 as I was checking in 5 other pax :?

After a lunch at House of Blues in Downtown Disney y) it was time to go to MCO and drop off the bags. Another simple, hassle free drop off with Alamo and we made our way to bag drop with 2 hours to spare.

There has been a lot of discussion in this forum regarding the benefits of AG but I was delighted to use the PE check in desk as the queue for Y was 5 deep :D

Bags dropped with a pleasant chap, all smiles then it was on to security. OMG :0 :0 I have never seen so many people at the security point at MCO. 5 lanes queuing back nearly to the shops...

It took 55 minutes to get through which ate into our preflight cocktail regime-very poor show!
So we snaffled a quick Long Island ice tea and made our way to gate 85 where Hot Lips was once again awaiting our company.

We were boarded almost immediately as there was only 35 mins until take off and we were say upstairs (seats requested at the 90 day mark).
A standard welcome at the door and it was up to our seats.

Flight time announced as 8 hours with 361 pax & 18 CC. It was added that there were 2 FSM's on board which was unusual - I guess one was a trainee or observing the other ?| ??!! Pax were invited to move seats but avoid the extra leg room seats or they may be charged (fair enough).

Manual demonstration of safety and then we were off 10 mins late.
Menus handed out which made me realise that we did not have one on the outbound...

Drinks served about 30 mins into the flight followed by the main meal service. I chose the butter chicken which actually OK! This alongside the Caesar salad made a reasonable meal for airline tucker!

With a couple of glasses of wine I did not stay awake for dessert, so I could not comment on that. I also missed breakfast which was a juice, cereal bar and a muffin, which my friend reports was the worse part of it.

However, I can report that the crew we had upstairs were great, especially the one member who was looking after the Y cabin - she was all smiles and couldn't do enough to make sure the flight was a good one. My friend requested a couple of things for her and her son and was greeted with 'no problem, take a seat and i will bring it to you'. So that's outbound and inbound with good CC, a whiff of consistency maybe ):

Landed about 10 mins late, out into an empty passport control :0 , through to baggage claim where all bags were off within 10 mins of arriving in the hall (pretty bloody good for Y y) ), out into a sunny Gatwick where our car was ready for the drive back to The Cotswolds.

Overall, another solid flight in Y with a great crew, thanks VS y) y)

Ha ha ha Guinness salad dressing.... now that would be interesting.

Wow what a line at MCO security, thank god AG got you joining the queue that little bit faster.. I feel sorry for the Y pax in the 5 deep queue.

2 FSMs aboard happens on occasion, usually when there are staff out of place or covering for others. Normally one leads the team and the other takes the role of a CSS supporting the rest of the crew in service.

All in all sounds like a good experience from VS, glad you enjoyed it y)

Cheers for posting 8D

Shows *generally* how good we have it in UK airports with relatively short queues for security and border control.

If there were queues like the one above, and the regular 1 hour+ US immigration queues in the UK it would be all over the media.

Mustn't forget the daily mail's probable line comparing us to battery hens and the mutterings of human rights violations because we are forced to queue ):

Excellent trip by the sound of it, I wonder if the queues at security were part of the furloghs they had put in place which had now been revised and should be back to normal service with flight delays etc.

Glad it was a great trip and flight :-)
