This isn't going to be a long report. Nor indeed, was the flight - a welcome kick up the behind bringing us in about an hour faster (making up for the delayed departure, caused by later arrival of the entended flight inwards to LAX - sorry folks).

Arrived at LAX in good time (work to do in AZ lounge), desk not quite open, but first in line and straight through security, to wait for lounge to open! Oh well. LAX T2 doesn't offer much by way of entertainment.

Soon settled in lounge, fine glass of Sauvignon Blanc, some crab salad and some cheese, to while away the time at laptop. The AZ lounge always seems to want to drop the blinds in the afternoon, which is a shame since it has a fantastic view of the runways.

Soon boarded, settled with bubbles in the silly glasses, and off to LHR, bidding a fond farewell to California blue skies and sunshine.

At this point, captain came on, andI determined that (aka Harry and Sally), I'd have what he was having! It was a highly amusing stream of consciousness thing, including daring any of us PAX to look the FM in the eye! She was rather mortified by this.

Drinks and meal followed nicely, although food offerings are definitely going downhill, if my recent experiences are anything to go by. Brief 30minutes at bar, idly chatting and then settled to sleep, delayed by 30minutes for gazing out of the window at a rather impressive aurora show! Seriously folks, if you're on a red-eye this year, I'd make sure you're on the port side, since you might be pleasantly surprised.

A good nights sleep, minimal turbulence, considering the following breeze, and soon descending into LHR with a full English safely stowed. Straight in, rapid disembarkation, the eternal trudge through T3 and straight through immigration, nobody in the queue, all of 30 seconds!! If this is the new LHR response then it is brilliant. SO had a brand new biopassport, which rejected her, so she took 10 times longer! Explanation - 'well, your fringe might be combed differently' - What? We now have to have the same hair for 10 years of a passport lifetime? Current rate of loss on my part implies a new passport every year!

Up to T3, Purple Parking had car all ready and within 10minutes were heading back t'north. A perfect trip.

Main reason for posting was to give a big shout to the crew, who were fabulous. They were one of the best crews I've experienced, and I wanted to acknowledge that. Thank you. Also, good luck to the one crew member who was moving to LA to pursue an alternative career!
