Checked in on line and only managed seq 7 and 8! We stayed overnight at the Sofitel so took advantage of the twilight check-in. There were 3 agents and no-one else waiting to check in so it only took a few minutes to get our boarding passes printed and suitcases checked in. So quick and easy and cuts down the time and stress the following morning.

We had booked the v-room so arrived 3 hours before our flight time. This was the first time we had used the v-room and we thought it was worth the money. It was a little busy initially (plenty of seats available though) but as the other flights were called there was only about a dozen of us left towards the end of our stay. Enjoyed a sausage and bacon roll and some fruit along with numerous cups of tea! It was a lovely sunny morning so we enjoyed seeing the planes land and nice to have lots of natural light – we found the terminal rather dark and depressing. All the staff in the v-room were very nice and helpful and checked a couple of times that we were OK and whether we required anything else.

English Rose was waiting to take us to the sunshine (she was sitting next to Ladybird). We had pre-requested seats 19 A/C which were brilliant, no-one behind to pull on the chair/or be heavy handed with the touch screen and guilt free reclining! The only issue that could have arisen was that all the people in the front row of economy used the overhead bins in PE to store their luggage even before all the PE passengers had boarded.

We took off at 1300 hrs just 20 mins late but with a flight time of 8 hours 15 minutes we were due to still land on time. Enjoyed our pre-take off orange juice/wine and then a drinks run before lunch with pretzels. Sat back and relaxed watching the in-flight movies (didn’t watch Flight!) The entertainment system was good, even allowing you to store programmes to watch, but I did find the film choice a bit limiting – all very good films but I prefer to watch “easy going” films when flying as I don’t concentrate 100%!

Lunch was:

King Prawns with a mixed bean salad

Beef Stroganoff with rice
Chicken breast with roast potatoes, carrots and gravy
Vegetable lasagne

Belgium white chocolate cake with raspberries

We both chose the chicken which was very nice and despite being last to be served still got our first choice. Neither of us like fish so asked not to have the starter but the stewardess was very kind and got us the plain salad from the economy menu.

Later on we had the ice lolly which as others have commented on wasn’t great (bring back the Häagen-Dazs or better still Ben and Jerry!) and then later a hot sausage roll or cheese danish. Both were very nice (we had one each and shared!)

Afternoon tea was a cheese and pickle finger sandwich and a banana toffee cupcake – both nice. Yes the sandwiches are small but for us by that stage more than enough.

We landed at 1620 ish and was first off the plane and 2nd/3rd through customs! As there was no-one else waiting. Had to wait about 10 mins for our suitcases though but can't complain!

Overall a very good flight which was very smooth and an excellent friendly cabin crew. Thank you.

As Blacky said a solid PE experience delivered. Hopefully this level of service continues. A little surprised the CC allowed the EC bags to be stored in PE but I guess they would have moved them should the space be required.

Cheers for posting, a good read 8D
