Imagine my absolute shock and delight at finding out I had actually won the competition

My brand new gold card and luggage tags had arrived in a lovely golden envelope (nice touch I think) a couple of weeks before the trip.
I checked in promptly at 24 hours departure before to seat 1A.
I arrived at T1 a couple of hours before the flight and went to the check in desk Gold card proudly in hand to ask for a lounge pass. The lady behind was very helpful and promptly produced an invite for me.
Off I then trudged to the Servisair lounge, passing through security nice and quickly on the way. I spent an hour or so in the lounge, perusing the papers whilst enjoying a couple of cuppas and some snacks. I have to say I personally wouldn't be in a rush to pay the entry fee for this lounge (I have considered it in the past). The food offerings weren't great and unless you intend on having a few alcoholic drinks, the cost may seem a bit steep in terms of what you actually get. But having said that it was a quiet, relaxing place to wait before heading to the gate and a lovely bonus that I wouldn't have normally had.
Glad I left plenty of time before hading to the gate - it is a bit of a trek out to Gate 8!!
Boarding was called on time with Gold card members invited to board first. Whilst waiting to board I noticed the chap waiting also had V-Flyer luggage tags and that is how I ended up having a quick chat to scruickshank

Seat 1A didn't turn out to be my best choice - no overhead storage. D'oh!! My bag had to go somewhere over row 2/3 in the end, oh well.
Boarding seemed to be done quickly then it was doors shut for an on time departure. We then taxied off to join the queue for the runway.
Take off was nice and smooth and then the cabin crew flew into action as soon as it was safe to do so. I am still not sure how they managed to do a full drinks service to a fairly full plane in the time given - impressive

Drinks were offered along with crisps (there didn't seem to be any option of the cookie). I am impressed at the variety of drinks offered on such a short flight including tea and coffee. Only other experience of a domestic flight was BMI where you had to pay for everything!
Love hearts followed just before landing and after 55min of flying time we landed into a sunny, warm Edinburgh (as it turns out that was to be the only sunny day of the weekend!). A short taxi to the gate and I was off and out on the bus in less than 10min!
Overall I am very impressed with the new Little Red Service. The planes seem very nice, as do the crew. It was nice to see full-ish loads on both my flights too so hopefully this is good news for Virgin.
Can't wait to experience the Virgin Clubhouse for my MCO trip in August
