Long weekend in NY, thanks to an economy sale providing a crazily cheap ticket!

Recently dropped down to silver; AND have never been in VS economy before!

OLCI : fail. No seat map. Seems to be a bug when you have a preceding Little Red flight.
Little Red EDI-LHR : on time, efficient, and a neat transfer direct into T3 lounge.

LHR Clubhouse (thanks Tinuks) : always reliable, and STILL beats the T5 BA lounges..
Boarding : quick
Departure : on time
Seat : managed to get in the bubble, thanks to kind CH staff, my main motivation being to get off the plane quickly in JFK, to slightly shorten the immigration queueing.
Started to get a numb bum by about 5 hours in, so don't think I would take economy for anything much longer than the New York run.
IFE : rock solid, no probs. got on the leader board for the Trivia Challenge!
Food : adequate. Inoffensive.
Crew : barely saw them. Asked for some duty free.. Never got it.
Arrival : on time.
JFK : ARGHHHHzhHhhhhhhhh!!!!

Barclay InterContinental minibar : :-)))

Summary : absolutely fine, and super value for money. But if I'm flying anywhere > 8 hours, it'll be back to upper.

You're welcome.

It was just under 90 minutes for me, how long did it take you?

Cheers.

I may try my luck with the JFK ticket desk, for a miles upgrade on the return VS4.
What are the chances, when on a deep-discount economy fare?

Not sure about miles but the price to upgrade to PE last week was $304.

Chances are good if the VS4, VS46 and the VS10 are all running. The desk staff are quite good if you want to get into upper and the booked flight is full, they can transfer you to one of the others if available.

One thing though, on a deeply discounted Economy ticket you won't be able to upgrade with miles. No problem though, you will just have to pay difference in fares at the ticketing desk on the day - something I do a lot.. including the taxes and YQ you will probably be looking at an extra $281 - $381 (will depend on the fare bucket available - could be more than this if only full Y available) and 20K miles to pop from ECO into UC.. Good Luck

Hope you enjoy NYC and cheers for posting 8D
