My second flight on Little Red. Yay!

So briefly - Heathrow Terminal 1 isn't at all bad. I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of getting through security and the general spacious feel of the terminal.

I went to the Servisair Lounge but to be honest, apart from some bacon butties it wasn't really all that.

And the gate that Virgin departs from has really great views and a Costa coffee, and you'll get better value from your money there than paying Servisair.

As the weather was amazing I got the chance to take some planespottery tickets before departure.

The aircraft was Tartan Lassie and I immediately noticed that the legroom was much diminished compared to Queen of the Cobbles. But the flight was quick and it wasn't too bad really.

The staff were really friendly and happy and you would not have guessed for a moment they had only been working for Virgin for a month!

Boarding was quick and the faux business class 'trick' worked as the middle seat was empty.

I'd have said that the flight looked about 65% - 70% full and we left a wonderfully sunny Heathrow behind...

Before long we were flying over London

In flight service consisted of a drink (tea, coffee or alcoholic) and a cookie, with Love Hearts just before landing.

I hope this works for Virgin, I have really enjoyed all my Little Red flights.

Cheers for the photo filled TR Sealink. Have yet to experience Little Red so good to see it from the travellers perspective.

Fingers crossed LR continues and expands 8D

Took an earier flight to EDI a while a go and loads well below this so lets hope they keep upping it..... although 1 empty seat on the plane right next to you is always desirable.....99.9% load factors !

The photos are amazing and what a difference a bit of sun makes ! If I had taken some on my flight it would have been moody reflection off soaking tarmac but it made it all so dark.... On the flights there and back it was pop nose out of cloud for first and last minute only.... apart from that nothing to see.

Great TR and concur about the Gate location at T1 and also very convenient at EDI for the Seafood Bar although a different franchise and not a patch on LHR.

Great Report

Great TR Sealink and photos too.....really brought your Little red experience to life for us. I agree about the difference in legroom between Queen of the Cobbles/Maggie May and Tartan Lassie/Rosie Lee....

I'm already wishing for Queen of the Cobbles and Maggie May with a rather more generous seat width and legroom to operate the flights I'm going to be on which is just plain daft for a 45mins flight but its amazing how these things take hold.

Loads appear to be improving too from Manchester though we did have 9 pax flight last week though over 60 on the return.....wonder what tonight will bring!!

Thanks again for posting,

Jon

Concorde RIP wrote:Out of interest - why would the seat pitches be different? Is this simply a matter of where the aircraft were sourced?

The aircraft were refurbished in different locations. You would have thought the spec would have been the same but it would seem not. One other difference is that Queen of the Cobbles and Maggie May also have adjustable headrests, which the other two don't..... v(

Having just enjoyed Maggie May and Tartan Lassie, I would say that while there is a seat differnence I at least did not note more or less legroom in either, maybe it depends on the row you are in? Perhaps its a bigger magazine pocket in one?

I did note that Maggie May had moveable headrest AND coat hooks (v useful if you are traveling in a suit) that Tartan Lassie did not though.

I can't decide if the lady with the cinema usher style tray handing our packets of lovehearts is a nice touch or utterly pointless... I guess its the former, costs very little yet is something you remember about the experience.
