Check in very quick & efficient, soon through passport control & in to the Clubhouse which was very quiet (never seen so few people) & remained so throughout the period of our stay. Enjoyed a good breakfast, a few glasses of bubbly & said hello to fellow v flyer member Gilly. Service in Clubhouse was good, disappointing that the only one in our party who wanted a treatment couldn't get one as they were "too busy".

Left lounge on first call & straight onto aircraft without delay.

I was welcomed back on board as a AU card holder & was addressed by name (as were my two sons) throughout the flight.
UC was only half full so service was good & all flight crew (all male with exception of FSM) were very attentive. Had a couple of spells at the bar, on both occasions we had it to ourselves.

This was my first experience of the new UC & feelings a bit mixed, liked touch screen IFE, but felt other changes made the seat feel even more "coffin" like than the old one. I found the newly positioned cocktail shelf looked as much like an after thought asthe old one did.

Overall it was good to be on a newish (Champagne Belle) aircraft for what was generally a very positive Virgin experience.

Thanks for the TR oldboy. It sounded like a decent experience with the exception of the inability to get the treatment in the CH and the coffin-like UCDS. Although I guess the fact that the seat got 4 stars means that it wasn't so bad. Maybe with time we might all get used to the seat and having to sit at such a weird angle (and perhaps for some FFs, our bodies will also curve at that angle as a result of constantly sitting in the l-shaped seat).

Ps. Great result on the status recognition. I don't care what anyone says. It's always nice to have your status acknowledged. It's like getting a thank you note. It doesn't add a penny to your pocket, but it does make you feel that much special.

Hi Oldboy,
Are you looking to do a TR for the return journey? I am going to BGI myself in a couple of weeks so would be interested to know what the lounge is like at BGI for the return. I understand they have no CH but share someone else's lounge.

Hi rlong

I will do a return trip report, departing 24th June. Lounge at BGI is basic but adequate and just a few yards from the boarding gate & aircraft BGI airport imho is pretty good for an airport in this part of the world.

Informative report thank you. We are travelling this route UC in just over a week's time so will check back for the return report. Enjoy the last few days of your time in Barbados.

Thank you marshy, hope you enjoy your break as much as we have. Went to the races yesterday and enjoyed watching VS029 from Gatwick fly overhead in its final approach to Grantley Adams.

Heading back to UK weather on Monday.

Thanks for the TR, it sounds like a good flight.

I get really cross when I read about treatments not being available. If VS can't guarantee a treatment on the day and won't let you book in advance they should not advertise the service as such a big part of the UC experience. I have arrived 3 hours before a flight from LHR and been told they are too busy. v(

Annoying thing Jakki is that there were never more than 20 people max in the Clubhouse during our stay and for mucj of that time there didn't appear to be anyone receiving treatments.

I've experienced that too and when I questioned why there was such limited availability the only answer I received was that the new system had been initiated in response to patient feedback? Pity they didn't ask me! v(

Hi Gilly

It was lovely to meet both yourself and Tony.

I am hoping to make a return visit to Crystal Cove later this year, this time without kids in tow, hopefully I will be accompanied by new girlfriend who hails from your part of the world. As we will only be a party of two (as opposed to 4 in June) I may even splash out on dinner at the Cliff following your glowing reports.

Best regards
