As previously mentioned, i'd actually landed myself at LHR rather than using the FCC centre. On arrival at T1 security, I was straight though. They now have a mixture of both manned and automatic immigration checkpoints gates. If flying domestic, in either case, you have to have your photo taken which is verified later on. Short lines at the security checkpoints.
As I was connecting from an Upper Class flight I had a lounge pass for the Servisair lounge in T1 before my VLR. To be perfectly honest, don't bother. It's really not worth the walk down to the other end of departures. The lounge has no windows, isn't very large and hasn't got the best facilities. After a trip to the bathroom and a quick glass of Orange, I decided to head to the domestic gate area, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the servisair lounge. Much nicer and calmer in that part of T1 as well. Stopped off on the way at Travelex to change my money back.
You go though the photo verification desks to get to the domestic flights area of T1. A few people already waiting for the VS3045 and within a few minutes, the arriving VLR flight was on stand. Within 15 minutes we where boarding which was very quick, having only 21 pax on this evenings flight. Apparently one of the earlier VLR flights that day had also been canceled from MAN. Sunday's are clearly not a busy day for VLR!! I do hope the loads pick up!!
Not much to say about the flight itself. The usual on-board service was great and by 21:45 we where at MAN.
The few bags didn't take long to come off and by 22:00 I was in the car park
