So here we go, I hope I can remember everything, Seems like an age ago !

On line check-in done the day before by hubby as I was at work, Seq 26,27, and 28. I wasn’t even going to try and explain to him the importance of Seq1. He’d have rolled eyes at me !
Seats were the same as those chosen in MMB.
Our taxi arrived next day at approx. 10.45am, and we were off... :D

We arrived at the DTCI.. bit of a tight squeeze for the taxi. WOuld not want to go through those barriers and bollards in my own car :0 whisked through in about 5 mins. Very impressive set up if you have not been through before. Little queue at security but into the clubhouse after a swift walk/dash through the madness of T3.

We found a spot right over to the left behind the glass with a view of the planes for L2H Jnr.
I ordered a red head (Hubby was a little surprised I didn’t even look at the menu). Shortly afterwards we ordered some Tapas for me, CH Burger for him and chicken strips for Jnr.
All went down very well.

We booked a couple of treatments. Bumble and bumble hair treat for me and shave for hubby. My hair felt great afterwards and 'flight ready' !
We passed the time exploring and reading. Quick trip out to the madness to pick up magazines and then it was soon time to head down to the gate at the 2nd call.

Priority boarding was in full effect. We were boarded at the front door, PE and EC were separate. We were soon on the aircraft enjoying drinkies, be rude not too !

Won’t bore you with the details but the flight was great. Lots of attentive cabin crew, we were all asked if we had travelled UC before and given an explanation of the seat controls. Further drinks, nibbles offered with the menu.
I was not that hungry so went for the Chicken Caesar salad and fruit tart to follow. Jnr enjoyed his pasta Bolognese. Can’t remember what hubby had, something with meat in it no doubt but he said it was good !!

Ice cream was handed out a bit later and then afternoon tea an hour or so before landing. I let myself down with lack of appetite but it all looked great.

There was a passenger 2 rows in front of us that had ordered a Vegan meal, that had not been loaded. The cabin crew were very apologetic. From what I could see he ended up with a rather plain looking salad, not much for an 11 hour flight.
Towards the end of the flight 3 different crew sat with him and chatted and apologised again. He was very gracious and didn't seem to be complaining.
Turns out he is an author as he gave the crew a couple of his books, titled something like 'you are what you eat'. What a nice man. He was sitting in the suite next to our son and also commented on how well behaved he was and that he wished all travellers were like him :o)

Vera IFE was great. Managed to watch a couple of moves, as did hubby and the kids entertainment kept Jnr busy.

We tried out the flat bed, Jnr had a sleep but I preferred it reclined in seat mode to be honest. The headphones they provided were pretty good and gate to gate IFE was a bonus.

We landed at LAX pretty much on time at about 19:15 local time. We were off the aircraft promptly and one of the first in the queue in immigration. Nice friendly man , very chatty, GSOH !! You never know who you are going to get so we were pleased.

Luggage came off the belt after about 10 minute wait and we were over to the Dollar car pickup place within 60 mins of landing. Huge queue so we were grateful to have registered for Dollar Express as there was no wait.

Picked up the car and we were at the Paradise Pier hotel just before 10pm in time to catch The World of Colour show at California Adventure park across the road. Our room was on the 12th floor and had an amazing view of the park.
Managed to sleep for about 5 hours before waking up at 4am, but this meant that we could hit the parks early and get back to the hotel for a swim and nap early afternoon.
Had an amazing 3 nights in Disney and 2nights at the Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica.
We also managed to stop off at the California Science Centre to see the Space shuttle Endeavour. Amazing to see it in the flesh.

Happy to post more detail on our stay in Disney if anyone is interested...loved the place and it was not as busy as were expecting so we managed to do all the rides we wanted to.
Having done Florida before, Disneyland seemed much more manageable and being able to walk to our hotel was fantastic.

Phew, first TR done, only 3 more to do ! Questions ?!

Wow, L2H, it doesn't seem 5 minutes since your excited posts about going!

Really glad that you had such a good time in Disneyland etc, it's quite a different feel to WDW isn't it?

Did you try California Sceamin'? A great fun ride, that one!

We've never stayed at one of the "on-site" hotels there, having preferred "neighbourhood" hotels as they are so much cheaper!

How did you find it and do you consider it worth the premium? Extra guest benefits?

Looking forward to hearing how you got on in Maui, so I can get all nostalgic - and it might prompt me to book up again, my daughter keeps asking if we can go back...

Hi L2H
Aww can't believe your holiday is over already. It only seemed like a little while ago we were "helping you pack" lol
Sounds like a good trip though.
How was the drive after the flight? I don't think I could have done that.
I have done it from LHR after a long haul a couple of times and it was tough

Concorde - I did look at some of the hotels on Harbor Blvd, initially booked Best Western Plus. But it's the extra magic hours that made me change my mind, plus the rooms with a view of DCA. Cars land looked amazing at night time !
We really wanted to get on the Cars land rides , particularly Radiator Springs racers and the queues for that are legendary - 2 hours plus some days. The extra magic days meant we could get into DCA early for 2 days and Disneyland for 1 day. It really made a difference especially as we were awake so early.
Our son was just a little under height restriction for California Screamin' but next time ! We watched the coasters going round from the hotel room. Looked very fast !!

Maui was amazing, and so relaxing after busy LA. loved the resort, and we explored a fair bit including the road to Hana :)

Would love to return one day :)

The holiday did go really quickly, that's the trouble. I spent months prepping and it's gone in a flash, not to mention $$$$$ !!!!

Gfonk - the drive was ok. hubby insisted he would be fine and he was after a relaxing flight. and it was a better option than the Disney bus which was hourly. A taxi would have been nearly as much as hire car and driving round LA was quite easy, well as a passenger anyway , lol.
Have to say I think VS23 is a better option than VS007 as you can go straight to bed. No trying to stay awake ....

Lol
Well price seemed to be the deciding factor and obviously the UC flight. Just goes to show how much of a difference it can make hey.
I don't know if I would be ok turning right lol
You're right about the months of prepping and bucks lol
I was at that stage from T-275 lol phew
I enjoy the prepping though - checking out restaurants ordering some fashion magazines lol

Sounds fab L2H, so thanks for the TR. I must admit, I wouldn't want to drive after a long haul flight. Last time I did was driving back from MAN and I was so tired I started dropping off at the wheel and had to pull over and slept for about 40 minutes to refresh myself. After that I said I'm not driving to and from an airport on long haul again, I get the train we have good links here and I enjoy staying an extra night before the flight cos it means my holiday starts a day early :)

And I love, love, love all the planning and prep, and reading little bits, doing online research etc, etc...
