We've been flying Virgin for around 15 years and Upper Class for about ten of those but about three years ago we switched from the LAS route to LAX because we had become incredibly disillusioned with the quality, finish and general service direct to Vegas. However after getting some well priced tickets we thought we'd give it another go, and I'm very glad that we did.

After staying at the Hilton we had a leisurely walk to check in which was fast and flawless. We made our way to the Upper Class Lounge and were greeted warmly and I have to say that I prefer this lounge to Heathrow's, although it was too hot as they seemed to have the air conditioning on minimum. Anyway after a nice breakfast and some work pre flight we boarded and were safely ensconced in seats 7A and 8A. The usual pre flight service came our way and we were up and away a tad late but nothing that wasn't made up during the journey.

After boarding I was already feeling better about the service and have to admit that it was nice to receive more focused service due to the limited number of seats in Upper in comparison to the large number on the LAX route. :)

I like the new screens and the entertainment in general was excellent, a large selection of films and finally being able to watch and listen to the entertainment until landing is a welcome addition, just a shame we have to use their headphones (I always find them too tight due to my big head and prefer my Bose!).

The food on this flight was excellent, a good selection, hot and tasty, but I have learned from too many attempts to enjoy the beef and always stick with the safe chicken. The salted caramel pudding on the other hand was out of this world and if you get the chance to try it, I would highly recommend it. My only complaint about the entire flight - and it's tiny - is that I always seem to get dropped or stepped on by the flight attendants, this time it was cutlery and a couple of clumsy feet with no apology for the latter but I survived! y)

We arrived in wonderful Las Vegas (our 17th visit and we're nowhere near done with it!) pretty much on schedule and were off, through security with our bags within 15 minutes, I have never been through an airport so fast in my entire life, it was amazing.

All in all I think I actually preferred this flight to our LAX one in February and we've already booked again for March - you've always got to have something to look forward to don't you?!

Hi and welcome to V Flyer

Thanks for a splendid inaugural TR y) y)

I too prefer the Gatwick Clubhouse as the team there always seem to be on the ball for both regulars and first timers.

Good to hear about the service on board and i certainly hope that Caramel pudding is still about when Mrs buns and I go on our next trip from gatwick in November ;)

Welcome to v-flyer, and a fine TR to kick things off... 17 visits and still finding new things? wow y)

Whilst the service staff at the LGW are incredible, I do prefer the open space and different parts of the LHR CH ahead of a flight - personal preference though.

Sounds like a grand flight, foot trampling aside ii) I look forward to reading about the return, cheers for posting 8D
