So, the return journey dawned following one of the best fortnights I've ever had in Vegas.

Check in at LAS was flawless and easy and it was with great interest that we entered the new Terminal 3 lounge. Whilst the old Upper Class lounge at LAS had long since had its day, we really rather liked it. Unfortunately I do not rate the new lounge much at all. Whilst it is modern and clean, I think it's too open, too public and although the service and food is very much akin to the lounge at LAX, I just think they could have done more with it. I understand that it is a shared lounge and I think that is the main problem, anyway, I suppose it's better than sitting out in the main lounge. I am super impressed with the new Terminal though and the facilities, including Duty Free, have improved immensely. In February we experienced the United end of it which was excellent too.

The return journey was akin to the outward journey for us - excellent - but I have dropped a star from the ground staff due to lack of information. The flight was late arriving apparently which meant that we were late leaving and whilst this was no big deal, nobody gave us any information which is just irritating - especially when we were actually on a tight timescale to pick up our pooches at the other end.

Anyway, once we boarded and were settled we eventually took off about 45 minutes to an hour late and we arrived at Gatwick a bit late too but the captain did make some time up on the way. The flight was pretty flawless again and the food good - I do love their bacon rolls for breakfast and my husband loves their full English. I managed about six hours' sleep which was fabulous and when we disembarked in sunny - yes, I said sunny - Gatwick that's when the irritation started.

When we got to UK border control there were about five kiosks open for what appeared to at least three overseas flights that had just landed, and to add insult to injury there were two agents per kiosk with one of them apparently just watching. I genuinely could see no reason for the doubling up, but assume it's either to suss out potential issues or perhaps just act as backup?!. As a result it took over half and hour for me to get back into my own country - I know it may not seem a lot but the pooches were waiting, and we're used to 10 minutes. Our Border control could take lessons for the USA in terms of how to welcome people to the UK, back in the old days I used to be petrified of US Immigration, but they have really improved. The lady who checked my passport didn't say one word to me, rude doesn't cover it. :(! n(

Anyway, back to the flight, it was just as good coming back as it was going out and I can't wait for March - although I prefer the outward obviously :D

We usually stay at Four Seasons in summer because of their wonderful pool but our winter trip is a bit of a lottery. In March we're going to do Aria and Mandalay Bay and in February this year we stayed at the Vdara, depends where we can get comps for our winter trip!

I can not recommend Four Seasons enough if you like to be pampered , but then again I think all the Strip hotels offer good services. I just love Vegas in the summer - lounging by the pool during the day and then going a bit nuts by night :D

Thanks for the warm welcome, this is an excellent forum.

Nice one, glad it was a good trip. The Four Seasons is good but not if you are looking for gaming comps :P

I am a Wynn/Encore fan - comps are good and the buffet is amazing. If with a rowdy group though, nothing beats Planet Hollywood y)

Cheers for posting, look forward to hearing about your future forays to Vegas 8D
