My first ever Virgin Atlantic flight. This was a leisure trip and treat for my better halfs 50th birthday. To make it special I decided to purchase the Guest List for the outward flight, at a cost of £340 for both of us. Now one could argue this is not great value for money but as I was not prepared to pay top dollar for Upper Class tickets, it did make the whole trip more of an event to remember, so was worth it for that reason alone.

We live so far away from LHR that getting the car to the DTCI was not an option, so we used the car at the other end, which made getting in to NYC easy after enduring Homeland Security check in!

Check in at Terminal 3 was brisk and efficient. We used the Upper Class check in and went briskly through security and up to the CH within 10 minutes of enetering the buiding.

The CH was of course fantastic fun. Pleanty of cocktails, a haircut and beard trim, plenty to eat, more cocktails. The nice man at the Porters desk even polished my shoes. The staff were wonderfully attentive. I think I could happily live in there.

The flight left on time. The seats in PE were comfortable, decent recline but no way would I be able to sleep in them, had I tried. Which I didn't as there were far too many good films to catch up with on Vera. The food was average but I was not that concerned having eaten enough in the CH to feed a family of 4 for a fortnight.

TRhe plane was Golden Girl with 290 pax, 12 crew and 2 pilots. The PE cabin was almost full.

Debarking at JFK was swift. The ques as ever were horrendous and everyone was on a go-slow watching the Superbowl.

Overall 9/10 from me for my first Virgin Atlantic experience.
11/10 for the Clubhouse (outshines any other lounge I have been to).

Thanks for your inaugural TR y) y)

I stand to be corrected, but I think you may be the first V Flyer to report back on the Guest List Service - the fact that you scored ther Clubhouse 11/10 suggests to me that you thought it money well spent ;)

The trouble with the Clubhouse is that is is like some kind of drug - once sampled, it is difficult not to want to go back. There are many a V Flyer 9me included who have gone down that path and have sold my grandmother to prove it :o) )

Thanks once again

An Annual Season Ticket for Fulham if you must know ): ): ):

Seriously, the sad fact is hat once you experience the Clubhouse, it makes future travel problematic, especially if your fund your travel yourself - like me

That would be what their grandchildren are for... :P :P

Thanks for this inaugural TR Maximus y)

I think buns is correct, the first one to feature the GL package. I am glad it worked out and you now join the ranks for V-Flyer that would definitely live in the CH if they could.. Once it has been experienced, no other airport lounge is good enough :w

Solid flight and, aside from the ever efficient US CBP, I hope you had a fantastic time in NYC 8D
