I'm afraid this trip report will not be as comprehensive as the outward journey, mainly because it was a short night flight, but I shall do my best.

We were transported from our hotel in Times Square to EWR by what can only be described as a small coach, but after the uncomfortable journey when we arrived in New York with 5 of us stuffed into a taxi, we decided to go luxury. We arrived at the airport with around 3 hours to spare.

Check in was very quick, we were called over to the PE desk as someone was at the UC one, through security and then into the lounge. I really like the design of the lounge at EWR, and I think it's decor is very appropriate for night flights. We got settled into some lovely settees and ordered champagne. We had a very attentive lady serving us, almost too attentive at times! We decided against burgers as we'd had a huge lunch, but I managed to force down some cheese on toast and more champagne.

We were called to board from the lounge and arrived down atthe plane to discover we were the last to board. I understand why they call you late on so that you can spend more time in the lounge, but I prefer a little longer to get myself settled, put my pyjamas on and have a relaxing glass of fizz. Unfortunately, I didn't even have time to put my pjs on before we took off.

Cabin crew were again really good on this flight. Obviously on night flights they don't have the opportunity to shine like they do on day flights, but they were still really attentive, friendly and, one thing that I feel is really important, didn't make us feel like we needed to eat, shut up and get to sleep straight away.

I still wasn't very hungry so I only had a slice of the honey cheesecake which was amazing. I was very upset that I was so full because the menu looked brilliant, again I can't remember everything but there was fillet of beef with parmesan crust and a chicken dish as I recall. I had two glasses of champagne, and then decided it was time to go to sleep. I am not very good at sleeping on planes. I think it's to do with the smells, sounds and oppressive heat. The temperature on this flight I found very strange, I'd either wake up overheating or shivering cold. I did manage to get around 2 hours due to the amazing 'Flying without Fear' channel. I decided to listen to it in my restless state to see what it was, and it's a meditation channel. It definitely worked for me, I was so relaxed!

I was woken up about an hour before landing by the cabin crew with my bacon sandwich, which was fine, and some orange juice. We seemed to circle over London for some time, but the flight was only 5 hours 45 minutes (which is not long enough - never thought I'd say that!).

Queues at Heathrow security were non-existent. I do not know how we managed to do so well with timings and queues, but we really struck lucky this holiday.

Overall, another excellent flight. We were on Mustang Sally, and I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but the cabin looks really worn and messy (pen all over, bits of fabric coming off, not very clean) but it didn't detract from it at all for me. I just wish we had another long haul holiday booked so I could look forward to the next time!

Thanks, and have a lovely weekend all :)

Thanks for the TR not that you can say much with such a short flight time, however it was good you got to use the clubhouse and sample it's delights. :)

Thanks for the TR -- sounds good!

Did you use Revivals at LHR?

And YES absolutely the state of the 747s has been noticed, and it will not be long before they really start to let VS down.

Thanks for another fab TR y) y)

Your sense of enjoyment shines through and i have to confess that i really do need to revisit EWR as I have not experienced the new Clubhouse ):

BTW those "pen marks" may actually be nail polish as bottles of water are stowed in each of the suites.

Thanks once again

PS Hope the shopping went well ;) ;)

Thanks for another great TR, sounds like you enjoyed yourself and that the whole experience was as it should be.

Pity you didn't find your wedding shoes, but that's just another excuse to do more shopping! ):

An enjoyable TR with clear indications of a great flight y) It seems weird to say that the flight time is too short but when you are trying to enjoy it to the max or have a sleep, it kind of is!

Thanks for posting y) y)

Gonna be on the same flight in a few hours in UC :) I hardly ever sleep on it tbh knowing it's so short. Mostly time to enjoy some nice movies and all. But i usually seem to be the only one staying awake..

Thank you for an enjoyable TR. It is really great to read one full of positive comments and enthusiasm for VS.
I agree about being called late to board. I, too, relish having time to get sorted before take off however enticing the CH.
