So our journey actually began with an Easy jet flight from Pisa to Luton ( we had been on holiday in Tuscany and landed in the morning to connect to our flight to EWR from Heathrow with Vrigin) and OH MY GOODNESS what a difference!! The Easy Jet “bag drop” line in Pisa stretched around the airport and then you STILL had to join the biggest line in the world to get through security…. anyway – no matter – I knew that within a few hours we would be going through the haven of the drive through check in and into the club house. With a relatively short turn around in London I just had time to repack our bags and do some admin before the taxi arrived to take us to LHR.

The drive through check in with Virgin was lovely, I think the taxi guy felt he had misjudged us (the Luton experience maybe being just a blip?). We were greeted (by name) by three Virgin staff coming out to the car to pick up and label our two suit cases and take them away.
Having secured my favourite seats on my favourite plane (8 and 9 A on the airbus 600) we were away into the deserted security…the only fly in the ointment being I had forgotten I had packed a normal sized deodorant in my handluggage so they then had to go though my entire bag– they were super charming though. Then on to duty free for perfume/ WH Smiths for crisps (I don’t like the kettle chips they often serve after take off !) and then into the club house (ahhh lovely ) Massage booked GREAT - and nails painted for my daughter… now this really is a first word problem ….but if I HAD to complain … I would say that I miss the neck and shoulder massage… the head one is okay but it leaves me feeling as if I am missing something .. anyway the lady was lovely and my daughter loved her nail painting (she normally goes with a hair style – pig tails ) so this was a break in routine…
The food was good as ever and actually the service was better than I remembered… this might have had something to do with the fact that we were not in a huge rush… the only time the relaxed service stresses me is if I don’t have much time and want to grab something before I get on the plane… this time however the food and service was great. After a quick shower we boarded on time ( a LONG walk to the gate – think it was gate 22)

I was offered (and accepted) a nice glass of bubbly before take off and the rest of the service on board was great. My daughter sat in her seat and gave me a thumbs up “This is better Mummy “ she said to me hmmmm expensive habit I think. Anyway the cabin crew were lovely – my daughter drew a picture of a plane and the cabin crew offered to get the pilot to sign it – I would have said yes but for some reason I was a bit nervous about distracting them !! It was quite bumpy and I thought they should probably have both hands on the wheel, so to speak !
Anyway – we both had the steak to eat (only okay but we had both eaten anyway in the lounge) and we settled down to watch movies before having a good long sleep. When it came to landing I was running a bit behind with my daughters stuff still everywhere – I was trying to stuff it all quickly in the overhead locker as the seatbelt sign was on. One of the crew was SO helpful coming over and saying shall I put this here/ can I help you with this etc – whilst another one just walked past saying “we need to secure the cabin can you clear this area” and walked off !!

Anyway we landed into a quiet Newark, our bags being one of the first off we were in our taxi in no time. All in all a good flight. :)
