Hello everyone :) just thought I would give a quick TR about Dubai!

After a rather traumatic experience with two huge suitcases on the tube I made it to T3 and was shocked to find it completely empty (but not complaining).I quickly scanned my boarding pass on the passport app and got a real boarding pass ^_^ and was off into security. Did have a cheeky ask about UC, but at £999 (and being away from the rest of my family) I politely declined :P

On board welcome was very good and were very accomomdating to a member of our party who needs accessibility assistance. Welcome drinks were quickly given- standard OJ/Sparkling and offered anything else which was a nice touch. All was going so well until we got some rather drunk people at the back of PE v( luckily they went to sleep rather quickly and didn't bother us for the rest of the flight. Not too sure about the new safety video- reminds me a bit of Brief Encounter!

Food was ok- can't really remember what it was I think it was some sort of chicken ?| The earlier CCS was replaced with a rather new flight attendant who forgot to give everyone menus on our side and also forgot to give the wine out with dinner until the flight attendant on the other side gave her a little reminder. Oops. (She also forgot tea/coffee but did remember the baileys which is always nice)

First experience with Vera. Quite a good selection, but as a night flight I didn't really use it. Seat was v. comfortable and got quite a lot of sleep. Woke up with 2 hours to go and the 'breakfast' service started. Breakfast on VS400 is generally nothing to write home about, but this time it was rather bad. It had lots of cheese and egg in it and after informing the flight attendant about my intolerance (which is quite mild) I was told 'Oh what a shame. You're not really missing out.' y) how helpful :)

Flight touched down in DXB on time and bags arrived quickly. Overall a good flight, however was a shame about the food and the rather amateur crew.

Thanks for the TR. I have two trips lined up for DXB, so read you report with interest. £999 seems quite seep to upgrade from PE. I have an upgrade showing in manage by booking for £804 from economy to upper class to DXB. We are not upgrading, with the flight just over 6 hours and having been really well looked after in economy on previous flights on this route it doesn't seem worth it. We are flying back to LHR in PE has that was only £120 extra pp. and a longer flight.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

We stayed at the Rixos which is AI and was really really pleasant. We got a very good deal with Best at travel. RAK is nice it's only 45-60 minutes from the airport and makes a nice change from the city.

Y is completely fine for VS400 but we snagged the upgrades for about £250 each round trip which is a bargain compared to the airport price! I just usually eat dinner have a nightcap and I'm asleep so I usually get better use of PE on VS401. Have a great time in RAK!

Thanks for the TR. I, too, have been well looked after on this route in Y, but with a trip coming up in November (agent booking though with work), I would be interested in finding out how you managed to get the upgrade to pe for £250 :). Many thanks
