It's true that indemnity insurance will cover you and there is good legal support, but you still have to go through a very protracted time consuming, emotional and sometimes expensive (even if it is only time taken off work) process if a case is brought against you. I've seen a few unbelievable ones over the years and 15000 airmiles does not reflect the time, effort and expertise that rrao56 unselfishly offered. I really do hope that there is a process already in place that will increase the compensation higher up the ladder as he richly deserves it.

Raj,

I'd like add to the positive feedback from previous posters and praise you for your actions, you did a terrific job at no little personal sacrifice.

I'd also agree that the lady should be reprimanded by the airline for her frankly selfish actions in not declaring her condition prior to boarding. She has caused Raj and the crew on that flight a heck of a lot more angst than if she had perhaps been hooked up to oxygen/medication from the word go (or not even have boarded at all!)

Raj is definately worthy of greater recognition than the paltry 15k offered so far. I would wait for a few weeks to see if Virgin contact you, if not I would submit a very polite and professional letter highlighting the actions you took from a medical perspective, how these affected your ability to enjoy the flight, and also the huge cost savings for not having to divert the aircraft. Then see what they offer you, 50k miles (a one way UC reward) should be a minimum in my book.

Just a quick update.
Have received a thank you letter from VS, and an extra 20K!
Which is the best way to spend miles: upgrade from PE to UC next flight to Delhi; or to by a G class ticket?

That's more like it, 35k miles is heading the right way, although they should have given you enough for a one way 'G' if you ask me.

Raj, thank you for the very interesting TR. I'm glad to hear that VS have given you additional miles, though I still think 35k total is a bit paltry for all that you did for the passenger involved.
