Well im pretty new at this, so please forgive my bad spelling etc.
Ive been 'browsing' this website for a while before my flight to LAX on the 29th June. I was pretty unsure of what to expect from the flight as i have heard some 'horror' stories from mainly economy of Virgin Atlantic.
We decided to check-in online 24 hours before which wasn't really that hard to do and saved plenty of time at the airport jumping the queues [which there wern't that many queues anyway as loads of desks were open]. The staff were very friendly and even enjoyed a talk with us. When in the lounge we waited for our flight to start boaring, which it did on time [unfortunatly at the gate miles from us].
We then got to a small but fast queue into a small seperate lounge were we quickly got onto the aircraft [G-VFOX Silver Lady] which isnt a particulary new aircraft either.
when on the plane i was preety surprised at the amount of legroom given, not in a bad way either. Comments on the legroom in Virgin Altantic Economy is unfair as it is [or seems] more than what BA offers, with more comfatable seats too! I am not really a small person either, i was sat in 36A a window seat with a rather large entertainment box under the seat, but i could stretch my legs either side of the box. Once after takeoff i shuffled back in my seat and stretched my legs as far infront of the seat infront of me that i could, about a extra 5-6 inches, maybe even more.
V:Port was started about 10 minutes after takeoff with no restart at all [to my relief].
Cabin Crew were very friendly and were always around to help anyone at anytime.
Food was given out just after and the flight was smooth from then and food and drink was given out.
The Food was excellent, and we thought that we were almost over fed with 1 big meal, then a hot sandwitch then a breakfast snack.
We did have to climb higher than normal a couple of times to avoid the terbulence over the US, which therefore caused a rather rough landing at LAX, but nothing major.
Immergration queues were easy and fast. This was one of the best flights ive ever had. Looking Forward to VS008 Flight Back!!
I would definatly fly VA again!!!

Nice TR! Just counting the days away till I fly to LAX myself.

Have to agree with you on economy, lots of people seem to suggest it is a nightmare down the back, but I've never found it that bad.

I found that the A340 we flew to NYC on seemed to have better legroom than the 747 we flew out to LAX on last year. I know everyone seems to love the 747's, but from a cabin comfort point of view I prefer the Airbus. Still VS007 will be a 747 so I'll compare again once I've done the flight.

Hi Graham

Good report and it is similar to my experience of Virgin Atlantic economy class. I think you had a great seat (36A). I flew in 35A on my trip to Japan and it was pretty comfortable, enough leg room. The seats in that area also have a fair bit of room to lean over towards the window.

Probably compared to all the other aircraft that have been registered since December 2002... [:w][;)]

Yep, should of rephrased it by saying there are newer aircraft, but in Virgins fleet there are always newer aircraft in the fleet, sorry! was a shame though because on DIY check it said we had a config to A340-600 config 2, which [correct me if im wrong] is the has the newer Y seats. But Oh Well. I know this has probabily been asked loads of times but will the A340-300's that are staying on in virgins fleet eventually become v:port or will they just leave them as they are till they leave the fleet??
