We had originally booked in economy but 2 weeks before we were going to leave my mom won some money on the 'Richard and Judy' show on ITV so she sprung for all for of us to go Premium! [:D]
We had problems getting the flights upgraded however. The misses and I were not too bad as we had booked direct with VA, with the only problem being that VA didn't take payment until the morning of the flight meaning we couldn't use OLCI. My folks however had a nightmare after booking with Expedia (see other thread). After what seemed like hours on the phone Expedia finally upgraded my folks and the booking confirmed it both on there site and Virgins. However, once they got to the airport on Sunday morning at 06:30 they couldn't check in as Expedia hadn't taken payment. This meant that my folks had a PE seat but not ticket for it (Virgins explanation) so they couldn't check in. They had to wait until 9am for Expedia to open but once this came they were told 'sorry there is no supervisor in on Sundays, there is nothing we can do!' Obviously this upset them but all credit to Virgin then as they changed the ticket code then and my folks had to pay again for the upgrade but only 225 return! [:)] After this they had to run from check-in, force thru the security line and leg it to the gate and they just made it.
We had been given seats together on the upper deck (YEY) but when got there found out we were actually all split up. Turns out other pax had got swapped seats as we were so late but the cabin crew moved everyone around a little and we all sat together.
Anyway, enough of that.
Premium. WOW what a difference! I sense expensive holidays in the future! [:0]
Loved the wider seats and having that much legroom was great. The wider armrest with drink table was great but having those storage bins down the side was brilliant. We had Oddessy but this worked 100% during the flight so that cools.
The cabin crew were excellent! A constant flow of drinks, food 1st choice, oh and the gluten free meals for Emma were WAY better than the last flight, including gluten free bread which was a nice touch.
We departed 1:30 late but made it to Vegas on time, got of the plane quick, a few mins thru immigration and all our bags came out together straight away [:0] We were out of the airport in less than 15 mins of leaving the plane at which point my dad sprung for a limo to the hotel and we were on our way!
