Sorry for the delay, in getting this TR done, I had a death in my family so have been rather busy and not in the right frame of mind.

After an amazing trip to DXB it was all too soon that we were headed back to the Airport, The Jumeirah Beach Hotel arranged our transfer and headed back in style, we had a 7 Series BMW, after having a rather yummy breakfast in our room, over looking the Burj al Arab, we headed down to reception at 0650 our driver was waiting for us and we were away in no time, traffic wasn't too bad and we arrived at DXB within approx 30mins.

We found the VS check in area and it was rather quiet, the Y and PE check in had around 30 people, at UC 2 clerks were checking people in and there was a couple ahead of us, we were check in very quickly, we had a our GF Lounge pass in hand and we headed off to the duty free area. The security lines were very busy, however the fast track was empty, once through the xray took about 15mins.

Once through the airport was fairly busy, heaps of people looking at the duty free, even more sleeping on seats and the floor. Arrived at the lounge, which was fairly empty and grabbed myself a coffee. [:D] After my wake up juice, I braved the duty free shops and got the last minute Christmas presents [y] Back at the lounge just in time for one more coffee, before the lovely lady came around to advise that the flight has been called for boarding.

We made our way to our gate, there was a priority lane but wasn't any quicker, got through the last screening point, it would of been quicker if the guy in front of me had listen to the guy and taken his shoes off [:(!][:(!] There wasn't anyone in the gate area, so we headed straight to the bus, we seemed to be on the bus for an age, it was very hot, the last few passengers got on the bus and we headed for the plane, which again seemed to take a long time, maybe it was because he was driving at a snails pace (I know they can not drive fast, but come on!)we finally arrived at our lovely plane, Dancing Queen, quite apt I thought! [}:)] There were 2 stairs one at the front of the plane for UC pax and another one for PE and Y. When I check in I asked how busy UC the lady said there were only 28 seats taken out of 45. So I was looking forward to a light load. so to speak.

We were greeted by a very friendly FA and found our seats (10 &11 A) We got settled and after about 5 mins was offered Champers, OJ, tea or coffee? I thought they must know we will be on the plane for a little while, I of course I took the champers, BF took the sparkling water! [:?] we were introduced to our FA's there were 2 of them looking after our side of the cabin. The cabin filled up and seemed to have more than 28 seats filled, in the end there were only a few free seats, so they must of upgraded people, or the crew had some friends on board, as Y and PE were rather empty. We were advised by the captain that there would be a further 30min delay due to ATC not able to give us a slot. We were offered more champers, well I do hate to be rude! [y] We were soon on our way (1hr late)

The service began and the menus were handed out, still had the scrooge pack left on the seat. Our FA who was looking after us was amazing, he really looked after us well. We had breakfast and lunch on this flight and the food was lovely.

For Breakfast I had Cheese and Tomato omelette with turkey rasher, chicken sausage, hash brown. Also a warm croissant with jam and butter! MMmmmm it was all rather yummy with a double espresso! Just what I needed.

The flight was a little bumpy over the Iranian Mountains, I will post some pictures on here. BF took some really nice ones out of the window. With the seat belt sign on, I had a few G&T's and powered my V-Port, I watched Cars, I really liked it, didn't want too much to think about, as had an early morning [;)] My FA made sure my glass was re filled, so I was happy. I was asked to go for my treatment I had the hand and arm massage, it was great and so was the IFBT, I got back with my bed all made I hopped in (had already change in to my PJ's) got another pillow and watch The devil wears Prada (I have seen it before, but just LOVE IT) So relaxed in bed watching T.V. The FSM went around to half the cabin saying hello but didn't make it to our side? Something I said?!? It was soon time for our lunch to be served and I had seasonal leaf salad with smoked peppered salmon, green beans, carrot, yellow pepper and celery, it really was very nice. For my main I had roast chicken breast with walnut herb crust served with potato gratin, carrot, turnip and swede baton and rosemary gravy. The chicked was cooked to perfection really moist and tasty. My BF had Leak and Potato soup and Iranian style lamb served with dill rice, roasted seasonal veggies, he liked the soup, but the lamb was rather over cooked and very tough. I had the cheese selection and the brie was to DIE FOR! Desert I had chocolate cheesecake with butterscotch sauce, OMG it was LOVELY! Well done VS for a great meal [^][oo]

We were soon on our descent in to London, it was a very clear and sunny day, we circled over London and the Lambourne hold. Had some lovely views. We landed and taxied to the gate. The MD for the Jumeirah Group was in UC and he had to get off quickly as he was running late for a connecting flight. The FA made sure that UC pax were off first, we headed toward the Iris Scanning which was great through in about 30secs!!! Headed to the luggage belt, waited and waited and waited some more, my bag came off in 10mins my BF took a further 15mins, so much for priority bags! [n][n]

We headed out to get our car that was waiting and we went home, a great little Christmas break, just another 3 months until I see some warm sun! [:(!]

Lovely TR DMB[:D]

Great to see some positive feed back about the food in UC. I don't think we have seen such praise for it on this forum for a while?

So sorry to hear about your loss. Please accept my condolences.

Your TR was one of few which actually mentioned good food [:0] this month. I hope I see more next year. (I hope I leave one next year!)

Another security holdup with someone who can't a)hear/read and b)think? I'm mostly deaf and need new glasses, yet I still know to take my shoes off! Ah, clueless people. [n]

As to the FSM, I seem to remember threads mentioning the A side sometimes gets forgotten...[:?]

May your holiday be happier next year.

Oh dear! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss especially at this time of year. Please accept my sympathy.

On my trip from Dubai earlier this year I felt that the meal I had was the best I had ever had on an aircraft. I can still taste the wild mushroom soup and mustard encrusted lamb which was beautifully cooked. Seems that the supplier in Dubai could well give lessons to the crowd in LHR

Great report [y]
