The new check-in at LHR was fantastic. It really makes a difference having the dedicated security channel - we were into the duty free area within minutes. From there, we made our way to the Clubhouse. I had not been in the Clubhouse since its last refurbishment. Wow! A lot of thought and effort obviously went into its design. After having a few drinks and one of the best Chicken Tikka Masalas that I have ever had, we headed off to the gate. Things were a bit chaotic and cramped at the gate (Gate 36 if I remember correctly), but we eventually made it on board without a problem. The crew were extremely helpful and attentive (but not quite as good as the crew from BOS). The food was excellent (although I would have the roast chicken instead of the beef and mushroom pie, if given another chance).
The flight to BOS is very short (I wish it had been longer!), so after a couple of hours of sleep, it was time for a light snack (very good) and then we were descending into BOS.
Overall, an excellent flight. Virgin have an excellent business class product that is far superior to their US competition.
