Well after a very uneventful flight from Dublin with BMI, we arrived in Heathrow T1 for transit to T3. We had insisted in collecting our bags to recheck in at T3 as it was such a short trip we just wanted to ensure our bags arrived in Hong Kong along at the same time as ourselves. We had decided to give ourselves enough time to enjoy thr Clubhouse etc and it was just as well as we were waiting close on 1 hour for our bags to come out in T1. I was meeting our business partner travelling from Belfast with his flight arriving at the same time to transit acroos as he had decided to also collect his case ( took him 20 mins) but we were on our way through the 'tunnels' to T3. On arrival at T3 I saw an improvment but nothing that would say 'wow' to the new check in area. After trying to explain for 20 mins on 'why' we had not checked ourt luggage through we finally got our boarding cards to discover the seats we had booked months in advance were not available so we went through the private security which is brilliant - takes all the hassle out of the usual security checks etc. We then went staright to the Clubhouse for a few glasses of champers while waiting for onother collegue to arrive from the midlands - He was blown away with the new check in area but maybe when you arrive bar car its a lot better - We decided to sit down early and enjoy a great meal - oh I love that pie so much - we had a gmae of pool , shave, etc and them made our way to the gate. On arriving there was a huge line of passangers and no line for premium or UC - This is something that VS should sort out to be honest but not the end of the world. Once on board we quickly steelted down to another glass of chamers and had a quick look at the menu - Decided to have the chicken of some sort which was really nice followed by loads of cheddar cheese , all fluched down by a lovely white ( sorry cannot remember the name) - At this point I got into my ninja jimmy jams, watched an episode of the Bionic Women , god knows why and then felt very tired so decided to go to the bar for a night cap with the guys before we put our head down for the evening.

There is something I would like to point out about the seats in UC. I found this time that they dont really recline enough - its either the bed or what I feel just not enough decline to get really comfortable - Maybe I am being over fussy but its something I noticed on my return journey as well.

Anyway after a few beers at the bar I settled down to at least 7 hours of sleep and to wake up only 1.5hrs from Hong KOng and the georgous bacon roll with a cup of coffee. Usual then rush to change back into our clothes and lad in HK well on time.

Overall VS is still amongst the best with the great service , great Clubhouse , and of course the Upper Class Suites. I also feel the food on board has vastly improved since my last flight so thats good news as well.

The bad news is [:I] ------ My bag was left in London and did not turn up till the Monday evening - Thats what I get for trying to be carefull [:o)]-

Cheers

Glad to hear service on-board was good. What a bummer about the bag, though...

Nightmare about the bag, especially after the wait in T1 for it!! I know what you mean about the recline of the UCS, having recently tried Thai first I was a real fan of the fact you could choose any position in which to watch TV and recline....not something I see VS changing for quite a while though

I cannot agree more that the new Upper Wing sets VS apart form the competition -especially the other airlines flying out of T3.

sorry to hear about your bag

K,
Looking forward to my first new T3 UC 'wing' experience. As for the seat recline I have a bit of a problem because my frame is over 6 feet tall. That is probably a greater height than the designers of the recline feature had in mind.

Hope HKG was fun.
