This holiday was booked using Tesco club card vouchers and I was a little nervous flying so far in economy.
Decided to do twilight check in and managed to get the holiday inn Gatwick for 28 plus vat for the night through Priceline, was hoping for the Hilton but at that price you cant complain.

Twilight check in was empty and as its a long flight decided to pay for emergency exit seats. Managed to get the window and isle seat in row 25 I think - right by the loading door, this was offered at buy one get 1 free as the door does bite into the legroom in the window seat a little.
Boarding cards were held at the ticket desk until the next day as there is no way of paying during twilight check in.

As I had booked through VH we also paid for clubhouse entrance. This was fantastic, managed to get a hair cut and a breakfast along with a few glasses of bubbly!

By the time we got to the gate we were among the last to board, just as well as it was difficult to take our seats due to them being almost on top of the entrance.

While I was glad of the extra legroom, being 6ft2 Economy is very tight, I do feel that you give up a lot of seat width and am unsure if its as good value as you first think.
The crew were mainly male and there was a lot of happy banter between them, this made for a rather fun flight. Quite possibly the campest and nicest crew I have flown with!

The rugby scores were flashed up on the in-flight entertainment system before landing, Wales had won and a big cheer from behind us told me I was not the only Welshman on board!.

Food was the usual economy junk, every time I fly it seems something else is missing of the tray, it was only when I looked around I noticed that actually half the tray was missing, but this was quickly rectified and I ended up with 2 pots of cheeky Gu, nice but I dont recommend you eat 2![:$]

As we were the first off the plane - ahead of PE and UC I was first through immigration, however I had to wait ages for my baggage so lost my good time! The immigration officer forgot to stamp my passport but as it is expiring decided not to go back and ask for a stamp incase I got some akward questions.

All in all this was a really good flight, much better service that my MCO in December, and that was in PE. Maybe my faith in virgin has been restored, shame the letter I sent to customer service last month was mostly ignored.

Gavin

Economy experiences are always welcome on V-Flyer as it does help those who visit the site and are planning their first flight with VS[y]

Twilight check in is to be recommended, as did getting a good deal on a nearby hotel. Both must have helped in setting you up for the next day. I presume you had previously booked the Gatwick Clubhouse and again this certainly sets you up for a flight - irrespective of the cabin you are travelling in.

Thanks once again for sharing your experience.

Good to hear a positive trip report from Economy. [y]

Yet again, the crew can really make or break the flight. Glad yu had some stars onboard for your flight out, it really does make all the difference, especially when small things go wrong, such as the meal trays. Have a good time out in Vegas.

Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks!

My time in Vegas is sadly over, I am a little late in posting the trip, sorry!

Had a fantastic time though, but maybe a week is a little too long, the 'wheel of fortune' chanter from the slots really got to me after a while - and my pocket!

How people live there I never know!

So, Gavin, how'd you manage to jump off ahead of PE and UC? Share the secret, please!

Seriously, thanks for the Economy TR. We need more of them. Was glad to hear that the experience was mostly positive.
