So, checked in, queued at Upper Class check-in to see if it was possible to upgrade to Upper (no, sorry sir, but your ticket is not the right class to upgrade on miles with), and then wandered through Security. Clear as a whistle, bantered with the security guy (this bag contains a lot of electronics and it'll light up your display like a Christmas tree - No sir, it won't, we're professionals).
Grabbed a bite to eat, then sat and waited for the display to tell us to go to Gate 26, where the lovely Mustang Sally was waiting. Soon enough boarding commenced, and the crew were very welcoming. Settled in and got the complimentary champagne, had a chat with a colleague on the same flight until the last two guests, two UM's, arrived and were parked in the two seats left. Pushed away reasonably on time, trundled down the taxi way to wing our way west on 27L.
Although I've looked on V-Flyer before to see which seats had the IFE box, I had to make an educated guess through SeatGuru. 34D does NOT have an IFE box, but the seating strut is about a third into the footwell, and you can either put both feet to the left of it, or your right foot to the right. Didn't matter much to me though.
The crew were efficient and very helpful, got my laptop power sorted quickly (tip #3, thank you) and got on with some work before dinner was served.
Dinner was perhaps the only glitch in the system. Apparently the menus were wrong for the choices on board. Oops. I went for the safe choice in the end, although I should've perhaps had the curry instead.
After that, work continued, fortified by some refills of Bailey's (thanks *****). Eventually I nodded off, awaking briefly to switch the laptop off, park my glasses, and wrap myself in the blanket for another few hours of sleep.
Breakfast was served promptly, and for the two sleepyheads next to me, the breakfast was brought out again later on. Landing was smooth as silk, pulling into the new international pier and walking for what seemed ages to get to the passport hall.
All in all a lovely flight, especially since it was a fully-booked flight and not a single spare seat anywhere.
