After spending 10 days with our son and his girlfriend who both work in Nassau, and a short hop back on the ghastly American Eagle, we arrived at Miami Airport at 3pm. Our bags had been checked through to LHR so saved a bit of stress but more was to come searching for the VS check-in. Is it me or is this airport poorly signed? Anyway, eventually we found it and there was an enormous queue at UC check-in but next to none at Economy. After waiting about 10 minutes, we were called to an Economy desk and formalities completed, Club America lounge pass and purple boarding pass in hand we were off. The security queue was pretty long so it took us a good 40 minutes to get to the lounge but we were finally seated there.

We had missed lunch, so both had a couple of sandwiches, cookies and a drink. Later we had a coffee and another drink, then another drink with a few nibbles J It was busy in there but eventually the crowds thinned out. It took ages for plates, glasses etc to be cleared, making for a rather messy environment. I checked the availability of a miles upgrade for our outward April flight, having already upgraded our return and yes it was available.

The flight was called at around 18.45 and we made our way to the gate. There was no queue to speak of and we were on board and turning left towards 11a and 12a very quickly. Our FA quickly introduced herself and asked if we were familiar with the suite. On hearing no, she demonstrated everything and left to get us some champagne no worries there then J She brought us the sleep suits and we both changed. The amenity kit was on the seat but no extras were offered at any stage L

We pushed back a few minutes late and were quickly airborne. Another drink was offered and an announcement was made that the IFE hadnt been working on the VS05 so they were just going to show 2 films. It was eventually reset several hours later I believe. It took quite a while for dinner to be served. I commented on the salt/pepper set and the FA went to get me a sick-bag so I could take them home, I had a duck salad, without the duck as the bean soup didnt appeal. Then for main I had a veggie tart and no dessert. Mr G had the salad, steak and cheese, washed down by a Pino Grigio for me and a nice Shiraz for him. After dinner, I had the bed converted and dropped off straight away. Mr G woke me up about something soon after and I couldnt get back off, so I joined him at the bar for a nightcap he had a large Port and I had a Baileys. We both then went to bed and slept for about 4 hours.

We had asked to miss breakfast opting for juice and coffee. I woke about 1 _ hours out of LHR and another FA was quick to ask me to change the bed back. We landed at 9.10 and did the scenic tour of the airport before eventually reaching the gate. The economy was held back to allow us off first, which was just as well as there was a queue at immigration. Our bags were first off and we were soon in Revivals, where we both had a shower and breakfast a bacon roll for me and scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for Mr G. We stayed there for an hour, collected the car from the Park Inn and were home by mid-day.

Were converted UC is the only way to go roll on April!

Thanks for the TR Gilly, another UC convert.

We like the Salt & Pepper pots too, and love the fact that underneath they say 'pinched from Virgin Atlantic'[:D]
