I had checked in online, and was just 5 minutes late, and already they were up to Seq 35, and the Y seat selection was rubbish...
I arrived at SFO about 2 hours before the flight - there were some queues, but nothing that looked too bad, but the line I was in (PE line as a silver card holder) just didn't move at all - how hard is it to check people in? Eventually after 25 minutes I was at the desk, and sadly no upgrades available so I was left with 63D at the back of the bus.
Security was pretty quiet, although I again avoided the full body scanner machine they have - when a line forms they just send people through the normal X-ray scanner.
After a drink (and email sorting) in the Firewood bar (nice view of the Virgin America planes) I headed off to the gate (A11, down the very far end), where boarding was basically nearly finished - I hung around to the end to avoid standing on the air bridge for a long time.
We got airbourne pretty quickly, and then the bad service started - there was no drinks run - we had to wait till the meal had been served. The cabin crew seemed as though they really couldn't be bothered - I was shouted at from 2 rows forward by a member of the cabin crew when they eventually brought drinks - hardly excellent service.
I chatted a bit to the girl next to me (she wasn't allowed to bring a Guitar on board - it went into the hold at the gate), and then tried to sleep, that pretty much failed - those Y seats are just not at all designed for getting sleep.
Breakfast arrived about 2.5 hours before landing - far too early, and was the usual rubbish, although annoyingly the back 2 rows got bacon rolls as they ran out of the normal breakfast

The crew were absolutely desperate to get the cabin ship-shape, and were ordering people to put seat backs up etc about 15 minutes even before the seat belt sign was on - I was not impressed at all - I felt like I was breaking the rules when I went for a wander just after that.
By jacket wasn't then brought to me as usual, so I played hunt the wardrobe as I left the plane - again not very impressive, and I spotted a member of the cabin crew texting a friend about something in Bristol that was clearly more important than making sure customers were ok.
Bags then took absolutely ages to come off (I though silver bags were put with the PE bags, but clearly not).
I'll put that flight down to a bad experience - but it had better be good next time when I'm flying back in Upper.
