I arrived at T3 via the tube around 12:25. Got to the check in desks about five minutes later. Waited less than a minute and was seen at one of the UC desk. The agent was quick, polite, and friendly....and for once they didn't weigh my carry on!

I was off to security expecting it to be rammed, it was but was still through in less than 10 minutes.

As I waited for the gate to be assigned I grabbed a quick sandwich from Pret and then walked towards Gate 21 (really really ridiculously far away, per usual)

Not paying attention, I walked to the gate and my BP was scanned - then it did the double beep and for a split second I thought I might get an op up, until I realised I had in fact shown up at Gate 19 - for the flight to Tokyo! DOH! :| Never managed to do that before....

The friendly gate agent sent me to Gate 21, where I was soon through at at my seat just before 1pm.

Four minutes later, UC boarding was called and I was at my seat, 77A on the upper deck 6 minutes later.

I spy two Quantas A380s!

Pushback was five minutes early with takeoff 20 minutes after that...not bad for LHR on Easter weekend (or at all for that matter)!

The route was a bit different - no trip over Ireland, instead southwest over Cornwall before heading out over the North Atlantic.

Drinks and the usual pretzels came around a half hour after takeoff. Shortly after that, lunch came round, and I had the beef, which was ok, usual decent meal.

The passenger sitting next to me was trying to watch a movie on V:PORT, but his kept crashing, so a friendly member of the cabin crew came around and reset it. I was about to watch Mission Impossible, but right as I hit play - black screen of death! :(! :(!

The friendly cabin crew member came over again (won't say her name as I forgot to ask permission as I left) and reset my box....twice. Finally it worked and was trouble free the rest of the flight.

Afternoon tea was served 1.5 hours out and was nice to have as I was starting to get hungry again...

Descent 30min out with landing at 16:23 - about 20 min early. Gate arrival at 16:36.

Through passport control in about two minutes and then waited 10 minutes or so for my bag. It came out fairly quickly but I noticed not everyone was getting priority bag tagging - some Y bags were coming out with UC and vice versa.

Customs was rammed the queues stretched all the way back to the reclaim belts but they had five or six officers on it, and was through in just a few minutes, it looked a lot worse than it was.

Finally done and out of the airport! All in all 8.5 hours from arrival at T3 to leaving JFK T4...

Through immigration in two minutes, wow, that's amazing for the VS45, last time I was on it a couple of weeks ago we arrived just after an EK A380. You can imagine!

Yep. Super quick! Especially considering the time of year. Except I'm writing this from T3 arrivals and been waiting 30min....still not halfway through the queue for passport control! It is the most crowded i have ever seen it. Queue stretched out the door. Literally. Should have known! TR to follow later today.
